Bacon-Garlic Green Beans
Ingredients
-
3 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
-
4 slices bacon
-
1 cup butter
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
½ teaspoon lemon zest
Instructions
-
Bring a pot of water to a boil, then add the green beans. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the beans start to soften. Drain the water, keeping the beans in the pot.
-
Lay the bacon strips on a microwave-safe plate and microwave until crisp, approximately 2 minutes. Let the bacon cool, then crumble it into small pieces.
-
Add butter and crumbled bacon to the beans in the pot. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the butter has melted, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until fragrant. Finish by adding lemon zest and stirring to combine.
Chef's Tips:
For a lighter version, you can skip the bacon. However, including it enhances the flavor of the green beans and adds extra richness.
