12 lasagna noodles

16 ounces ricotta cheese

12 ounces low-fat mozzarella cheese, sliced

¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Cooking Instructions
Heat a large pot or skillet over medium heat. Add the turkey sausage, ground turkey, onion, and garlic, and cook, stirring often, until browned, about 15 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and a bit of water. Season with parsley, basil, Italian herbs, fennel seeds, and black pepper. Let it simmer uncovered for about 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain the noodles.
Spread 1 1/2 cups of the sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 6 noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta on top of the noodles, then add one-third of the mozzarella slices. Pour 1 1/2 cups of sauce over the mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of Parmesan. Repeat the layers. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover with foil, ensuring the foil doesn't touch the cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven until the sauce is hot and the cheese has melted, about 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking until the cheese turns golden brown, about another 25 minutes. Let the lasagna cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Note from the Editor:
To save some time, you can skip pre-cooking the noodles. Simply place the dry noodles in the dish, and after baking covered for 25 minutes, add about 1 cup of water. This will cook the noodles perfectly.
