Brussels Sprouts Gratin Delight

1 pound Brussels sprouts, cleaned and trimmed

2 slices bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces

½ cup heavy cream

¼ cup bread crumbs

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons butter, cut into tiny pieces
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly coat a baking dish with grease.
Bring a large pot of water seasoned with a pinch of salt to a boil. Add the Brussels sprouts and cook them uncovered until they are tender, about 8 minutes. Drain them in a colander, then quickly submerge them in ice water for several minutes to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, drain thoroughly and cut the sprouts in halves or quarters, depending on size. Set them aside.
While the sprouts cool, place the bacon in a large, deep skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until the bacon is soft and slightly browned, about 5 minutes. Lower the heat, then add the Brussels sprouts and season with salt and pepper. Toss for about a minute to evenly coat. Transfer the bacon and Brussels sprouts into the prepared baking dish. Pour the cream evenly over them, then sprinkle with breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Dot the breadcrumbs with pieces of butter.
Bake in the preheated oven until golden and bubbling, about 20 to 25 minutes.
