Chicken and Ham Bake

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup milk

½ cup cooked, cubed chicken breast meat

½ cup cooked and cubed ham

½ cup cooked wide egg noodles

¼ cup chopped celery

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

3 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in the flour and cook until bubbly. Gradually add the milk while stirring continuously, and cook until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.

Take the saucepan off the heat and stir in the chicken, ham, noodles, celery, salt, and black pepper. Transfer the mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with cheese, and add paprika if desired. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
