Ingredients List
-
1 pound ground pork sausage
-
1 tablespoon butter
-
6 stalks chopped celery
-
2 onions, chopped
-
2 (1 pound) loaves day-old white bread, torn into small pieces
-
1 ½ teaspoons sage seasoning mixture
-
salt and pepper to taste
-
2 eggs, lightly beaten
-
1 cup chicken broth
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
-
Brown the pork sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain and set aside.
-
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the celery and onions, and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until they are tender.
-
In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, bread, sage, salt, and pepper. Add eggs and enough chicken broth to moisten the mixture without making it soggy.
-
Press the stuffing into the prepared baking dish and bake for 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
