Crispy Bacon Brussels Sprouts
Ingredients Needed
-
6 slices bacon, cut into bite-size pieces
-
½ onion, diced
-
1 (12 ounce) package fresh Brussels sprouts, trimmed and sliced
-
2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste (Optional)
-
salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
Cook the bacon pieces in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until crisp and browned, about 7 to 10 minutes. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, keeping the bacon fat in the pan.
Sauté the onion in the bacon drippings in the skillet until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the Brussels sprouts and toss to coat them in the bacon fat. Cook and stir until the sprouts are golden and tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in sugar, salt, and black pepper, then sprinkle the crispy bacon pieces over the top.
Cook's Tip
I like to add a touch of sugar to balance the flavor for my kids, but this dish is still fantastic without it. When I skip the sugar, I don't mention it, and they never notice!
