Easy Stromboli
Ingredients
-
½ pound bulk pork sausage (Optional)
-
1 (1 pound) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
-
4 slices hard salami
-
4 slices thinly sliced ham
-
4 slices American cheese
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
salt and ground black pepper to taste
-
1 egg white, lightly beaten
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir the sausage until it is crumbled, evenly browned, and fully cooked, about 10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease and discard it.
Roll out the bread dough on a baking sheet, ungreased, to a 3/4-inch thickness. Layer the salami, ham, and American cheese slices in the center of the dough. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, salt, pepper, and the cooked sausage. Fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal and prevent any leaks. Brush the top with egg white.
Bake in the preheated oven until the dough is fully cooked and lightly browned, about 17 to 20 minutes.
Cook’s Tips
You can customize the meat and cheese to your preference.
If you're feeding a crowd, consider buying a pack of 3 bread loaves and tripling the ingredients.
Pair with marinara sauce for dipping, or serve it as is for a simple meal.
