Grilled Pork Chops with Soy-Honey Glaze

Ingredients List
-
½ cup honey
-
¼ cup soy sauce
-
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
-
1 pinch freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
-
4 center-cut boneless pork chops - 1/2-inch thick
-
2 teaspoons canola oil, or as needed
-
salt to taste
-
1 large sweet onion, sliced
Instructions
-
Preheat your outdoor grill on high heat and lightly oil the grill grate.
-
In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of the mixture in a separate bowl for later use. Brush the pork chops with canola oil on both sides and season with salt and black pepper.
-
Grill the pork chops over the hottest part of the grill until they develop a nice char, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Move the chops to a cooler part of the grill and continue cooking, basting both sides generously with the honey-soy glaze, until the pork is no longer pink inside (approximately 3 to 4 more minutes). The juices should run clear, and the internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C) when measured with an instant-read thermometer.
-
While the pork chops are grilling, brush onion slices with oil and season with salt and black pepper. Grill the onions for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until they become translucent and browned. To serve, place the pork chops and grilled onions on warmed plates, and brush the chops with the reserved honey-soy glaze.
Chef's Tip
For a more kid-friendly version, simply leave out the crushed red pepper flakes.
