Hearty Deep Dish Lasagna
Ingredients

12 uncooked lasagna noodles

1 pound sweet Italian sausage

3 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste

1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 ½ teaspoons dried oregano

1 ½ teaspoons dried basil leaves

1 pound part-skim ricotta cheese

1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

3 large eggs
-
2 teaspoons garlic salt

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a deep 9x13-inch baking dish.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 8 minutes, or until they are tender but still firm. Drain the noodles.
In a large skillet, cook the sausage, onions, 1/3 cup of parsley, and garlic over medium heat until the sausage is browned and crumbled, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the tomato paste, water, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, oregano, and basil, mixing well. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, spinach, Parmesan, the remaining 1/3 cup of parsley, eggs, garlic salt, and pepper. Mix until fully incorporated.
Spread 2 cups of sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer with four lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, 1/3 of the remaining sauce, and 1 cup of mozzarella. Repeat the layers once more, then top with the remaining noodles, sauce, and mozzarella. Cover tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving.
