How to Remove Stubborn, Baked-On Residue from Your Pyrex

When food leaves a greasy coating on your glass Pyrex, scrubbing it with just a sponge won't do the trick — it's like trying to erase Super Glue.
You’ll need more than elbow grease to tackle baked-on stains. Here are the most effective methods to restore your grease-marked Pyrex to its sparkling, like-new condition.
Dish Soap and Baking Soda
Dish soap alone may handle grease, but stubborn stains require extra power. For better results, sprinkle baking soda on your Pyrex, add a generous squirt of dish soap, and fill the pan with hot water. Let it soak for 10 minutes. Since baking soda is gritty, pair it with a tough scrubber, like a mesh sponge, to tackle the stains effectively.
Cornstarch and Vinegar Solution
Cornstarch and vinegar work wonders on greasy stains, whether on fabric or glass. Mix 1 teaspoon each of cornstarch, vinegar, and water in your Pyrex pan, then use a mesh scrubber and a little elbow grease to scrub away the grease marks.
Magic Eraser
The Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean is a powerhouse for cleaning and is safe for glass cookware. Just dampen the eraser with water, apply gentle pressure, and scrub away the grease from your Pyrex.
Oven Cleaner
While it might not be the first thing that comes to mind, oven cleaner is a great option for tackling grease on Pyrex. Since it's designed to break down baked-on grease, it can also help with stubborn stains on your glass cookware. Just be sure to spray it outside to avoid strong fumes in your kitchen, and wear gloves for protection. Spray it on the Pyrex, let it sit for a minute, and then wipe it away with a paper towel.
Use the Oven's Self-Clean Mode
Take advantage of your oven's self-cleaning feature to tackle grease on your glass cookware. Simply fill your Pyrex with water (just below the rim) and set your oven to self-clean.
Be cautious: the oven will get extremely hot in this mode, so allow it to cool down before opening the door. Opening it too soon could cause your Pyrex to crack or shatter.
Once the oven is cool to the touch, remove the pan and give it a good scrub with a sponge and water in the sink. Most grease should come off easily, but for any stubborn stains, a little dish soap will do the trick.
