Kielbasa with Braised Cabbage

Ingredients List
-
6 slices bacon
-
1 onion, chopped
-
¼ cup water
-
2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
-
3 teaspoons caraway seed
-
2 teaspoons minced garlic
-
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
-
¼ teaspoon seasoning salt
-
1 large head cabbage, cut into small wedges
-
1 pound Polish kielbasa
Instructions
-
Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crispy, flipping occasionally. Once cooked, remove bacon and set aside on paper towels to drain, keeping the bacon fat in the pan.
-
Add onions, water, sugar, caraway seeds, garlic, red pepper flakes, and seasoned salt to the bacon fat. Mix in the cabbage, stir gently, then cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes over medium heat.
-
Incorporate the kielbasa into the pan. Continue cooking, covered, for an additional 10 to 15 minutes. Crumble the cooked bacon over the top before serving hot.
