Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking dish with heavy-duty aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Trim any excess rib meat from the chicken breasts, rinse, and pat dry. Keep the skin on. Season with salt and pepper, then place in the prepared baking dish.

Bake in the preheated oven until you see juices starting to form, around 10 minutes. Then, lower the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).
Take the pan out and drizzle half of the barbecue sauce generously over the chicken. Return to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes. Add the remaining barbecue sauce and continue baking.

Cook the chicken until the center is no longer pink and the skin becomes crispy, about 15 to 20 more minutes.

Cook’s Tip
The cooking times provided are based on my oven's settings. Since oven temperatures can vary, you may need to adjust accordingly. You can also grill the chicken, but it will require more attention, as you'll need to apply sauce more frequently, making it a bit more work.
If using boneless breasts, be aware they may turn out dry, so adjust cooking times accordingly.
Feel free to use any store-bought or homemade BBQ sauce that you prefer.
