Shahi Paneer: A Royal Delight
Ingredients Needed
-
2 tablespoons cooking oil
-
1 large onion, thinly sliced
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon ground cumin
-
1 teaspoon ground coriander
-
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
-
½ teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
-
4 tomatoes, pureed
-
½ pound paneer, cubed
-
¼ cup water
-
1 teaspoon white sugar
-
salt to taste
-
¼ cup cream
-
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Cooking Instructions
-
Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until the onions become soft and golden, around 5 minutes. Sprinkle cumin, coriander, turmeric, and chili powder into the mix. Continue cooking until the spices become aromatic, about 30 seconds.
-
Stir in pureed tomatoes and cook until most of the liquid evaporates and the oil begins to separate, about 3-5 minutes. Add paneer, water, sugar, and salt. Gently stir to prevent breaking the paneer. Simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb some of the flavors. Finally, stir in the cream and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Garnish with cilantro and serve.
