Simple Lemon Garlic Broccoli

1 pound broccoli, separated into florets

2 tablespoons water

4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice, divided

3 tablespoons butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 pinch salt

1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Cooking Instructions

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the broccoli florets. In a small bowl, combine water with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and pour over the broccoli. Cover and steam for 10 to 15 minutes, until the broccoli turns bright green and becomes tender.

While the broccoli cooks, melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add garlic and salt, then reduce the heat further and sauté the garlic until golden brown, about 8 minutes.

Drain the steamed broccoli and return it to the skillet. Drizzle with the remaining 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, then stir in the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with black pepper and toss to coat evenly.
