Slow Cooker New England-Style Boiled Dinner

Ingredients Needed
-
1 pound turkey ham or regular ham
-
1 cup baby carrots
-
4 large red potatoes, cubed
-
6 cloves garlic
-
½ head cabbage, cut into 6 wedges
-
2 cups low-sodium chicken broth, as needed
-
12 pearl onions
Instructions
-
Start by layering baby carrots and red potatoes at the bottom of your slow cooker. Place the turkey ham flat-side down on top, followed by garlic cloves and cabbage wedges. Pour in enough chicken broth to cover everything.
-
Cook on Low for 8 hours, then add the pearl onions and continue to cook for another 30 minutes, or until the onions are tender.
Chef's Tips
Traditionally, this dish is served on a plate without the broth. However, my husband prefers it as a soup, in a bowl, with plenty of broth.
Don't worry if it takes a bit longer than the suggested 8 hours. I've cooked it for up to 10 hours on a busy day, and it still turned out amazing.
