Begin by placing shredded cabbage into a large mixing bowl. In a separate small bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, ketchup, sugar, red pepper flakes, and hot sauce. Whisk until the sugar dissolves completely. Pour this dressing over the cabbage, mix well, and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving to let the flavors meld.
Chef’s Tip
If you prefer, you can swap out the ketchup for barbecue sauce. For the best flavor, I recommend letting the slaw chill overnight so the ingredients can meld together beautifully.
