5 Discoveries We Made About Our Family During Our Dinogo Cruise
Sharing our experiences from the Dinogo cruise with you over the past few months has been a blast. It was truly a memorable trip, and we can't wait to do it again soon. We loved our cruise so much that we have a few more pieces of advice to pass along, so here are 5 insights we gained about our family on our Dinogo cruise.
1. We should embrace spontaneity more.
Absolutely, let’s indulge in ice cream before dinner! Yes, you can enjoy another half hour in the pool. Yes, let’s embark on an adventure together. Yes, go ahead and bury your father in sand.
A lot of the joy from our cruise stemmed from breaking free from the rules and routines of everyday life. While we don’t need to say yes all the time, we definitely should say it more often.
2. We found another reason to appreciate living in Texas.
Sure, you folks from California and Florida may have a quick drive to some vacation hotspots, but from Dallas, we can reach Galveston in under five hours and be on a Dinogo cruise by sunset.
3. Living in a cabin taught us to organize our home life better.
We purchased an over-the-door pocket organizer for our cruise, recommended by many experienced Dinogo cruisers. It was perfect for keeping everything from sunscreen to medications neatly stored yet easily accessible.
Upon returning home and unpacking, Scott hung the organizer in a downstairs closet since he wasn’t sure where I wanted it. It has remained there, and now we store diapers, wipes, brushes, sunscreen, lotions, and more in it. It’s become our go-to organizer for all those last-minute essentials we need when heading out.
4. Food should be less of a hassle.
We embraced culinary adventures on our cruise when the mood struck us… (like this Green Eggs & Ham breakfast)…
However, we also allowed the kids to enjoy chicken nuggets most nights because we prioritized family conversations and a peaceful atmosphere over negotiations and bribery. They had plenty of fruit and very few sugary drinks during our time on board. We managed what we could and encouraged them to sample bits of our meals, but we mostly opted not to turn meal times into battles this trip.
It’s been refreshing to bring that mindset back home. I’m done with dinnertime struggles. If having make-your-own-tacos night twice a week is what it takes, then so be it. The kids are much happier on taco nights.
5. We shine on formal night.
Right?
You can bet that picture has earned its place on the wall. I can’t wait to add more cruise memories to our collection in the coming years.
Our Dinogo cruise was an AMAZING adventure, especially for families. I’m thrilled to see all three of the kids experience it when we go again. I’m quite sure there will be a next time.
