Looking for Celebrity Cruises ships with the most venues? The largest ships in the fleet are where you'll find the most attractions on board.
The biggest Celebrity cruise ships are packed with the most dining options, bars, showrooms, and pool areas. These ships also boast the largest casinos, spas, and the widest range of cabin types, offering more rooms and suites compared to smaller vessels in the fleet.
With capacity for over 3,000 passengers, these massive Celebrity ships resemble floating resorts like those found in Orlando or Las Vegas. However, they’re not as big as the largest resorts on land or at sea, which you’d find on Royal Caribbean or MSC Cruises vessels. If you prefer a “bigger is better” resort experience, these ships are your ideal choice.
However, Celebrity Cruises isn’t just about the big ships. The brand also offers smaller, more intimate vessels, carrying about 2,000 passengers. These ships are 35% smaller than the largest Celebrity ships, featuring fewer deck-top activities and onboard venues, perfect for those seeking a quieter, more personalized cruise experience.

Celebrity also operates three exceptionally small ships, with just 16 to 100 passengers, in the Galapagos year-round. These unique vessels represent a separate business model from Celebrity's traditional large-ship cruising.
Celebrity is essentially two cruise lines in one: a large-ship fleet with 13 vessels that carry 2,000 to 3,000 passengers, and a Galapagos operator with three much smaller ships. All of these vessels are included in this guide.
It’s worth noting that Celebrity has announced its two smallest Galapagos vessels will leave the fleet in 2025.
To ensure you choose the right Celebrity ship, it’s helpful to understand which vessels are the largest and which are the smallest before making your booking.
Here, we’ve ranked every Celebrity ship currently in operation, from the largest to the smallest.

Which Celebrity Cruises ship is the largest?
The largest Celebrity cruise ships are the Celebrity Ascent and Celebrity Beyond, both of which share the title. Each ship weighs in at 141,420 gross tons. These two vessels are also the latest additions to the fleet, with Celebrity Ascent debuting in 2023 and Celebrity Beyond launching in 2022.
Which is the smallest Celebrity Cruises ship?
The smallest ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet is the ultra-compact Celebrity Xploration. Operating in the Galapagos, it weighs just 320 tons and accommodates a mere 16 passengers, making it significantly smaller than the massive Celebrity Beyond.
To put it into perspective, the Celebrity Xploration carries fewer passengers than a single lifeboat aboard the Celebrity Ascent.
Celebrity Xploration won't hold the title of the smallest ship in Celebrity's fleet for much longer. The line plans to retire both the Celebrity Xploration and the 48-passenger Celebrity Xpedition in 2025. When that happens, the Celebrity Flora, with a 100-passenger capacity, will become the smallest ship in the fleet.
Are larger ships coming to Celebrity Cruises?
Not at the moment. Celebrity Cruises has one new ship currently under construction. However, the new vessel is expected to be about the same size as the recently launched Celebrity Ascent, with a weight of approximately 141,000 tons.
Of course, that size estimate could change as construction progresses. Celebrity may decide to add additional features that could increase the ship's overall size.
The new ship, named Celebrity Xcel, is slated to enter service in November 2025.
Celebrity Xcel will be the fifth addition to Celebrity's Edge Class series, which began with the launch of Celebrity Edge in 2018. The four ships already in the series are Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Beyond, and Celebrity Ascent.
The Edge Class ships are being constructed at the renowned Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France.
What distinguishes the larger and smaller Celebrity Cruises ships?
The largest Celebrity cruise ships offer more onboard venues and attractions compared to their smaller counterparts. This makes them ideal for guests who prefer a grand resort-style vacation with abundant options, unlike a stay at a more intimate, smaller resort.
On Celebrity's two largest ships, Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Ascent, for example, you'll find exclusive "resort-within-a-resort" spaces for suite guests known as The Retreat. These areas feature a two-story sun deck with hot tubs, private cabanas, and lounge chairs, offering a high-end experience unavailable on smaller ships in the same Edge Class or the rest of the Celebrity fleet.
Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Ascent offer 179 more cabins than the smaller ships in the Edge Class series, which each have 1,467 cabins. This means the larger ships can accommodate up to 3,260 passengers at double occupancy. In comparison, Celebrity Apex can hold 2,910 passengers at double occupancy, while Celebrity Edge accommodates 2,908.
In contrast, Celebrity's more compact Millennium Class ships host around 2,100 passengers at double occupancy, offering a more intimate atmosphere compared to the larger, more expansive ships in the fleet.
This makes the smaller vessels an excellent option for travelers who want to experience Celebrity Cruises without the crowds. These ships cater to those who prefer a more intimate cruise experience, offering fewer amenities in exchange for a quieter, more personal journey. They also tend to be more affordable on a per-day basis.
Celebrity’s three tiny ships in the Galapagos provide the ultimate intimate cruising experience. These vessels are more like floating boutique hotels, offering an exclusive, personalized atmosphere that's a far cry from the massive ships in the fleet.
