A New Thermal Spring Has Opened in Iceland, and This Round-Trip Flight Package Includes a Visit

Icelandair has just provided an excellent reason to plan your next journey to the land of fire and ice.
From now until February 20, Icelandair is offering a hot springs getaway package starting at $879. This includes round-trip flights from various U.S. locations, a visit to Hvammsvík Hot Springs just 45 minutes from Reykjavík, and a tour of Iceland's breathtaking south coast, among other perks.
This offer is valid for travel occurring between March 1 and May 28, requiring a stay in Iceland of at least 3 nights and up to 30 nights.
The U.S. departure cities for this hot springs promotion include Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Denver (DEN), Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP), New York City (JFK), Newark, New Jersey (EWR), Portland, Oregon (PDX), Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (RDU), Seattle (SEA), and Washington, D.C. (IAD). The deal covers standard economy fares, which include one checked bag, one carry-on, and advance seat selection.
A key feature of the Icelandair package is a 4.5-hour trip to Hvammsvík Hot Springs, offering unlimited access to eight natural pools, ranging from a refreshing 52 degrees Fahrenheit to a warm 107, along with a steam room, beach access, changing facilities, and private showers.
Located on the Atlantic coast, Hvammsvík Hot Springs opened in 2022 as one of Iceland’s latest geothermal bathing retreats, emphasizing its natural setting. The site includes a historic hot spring that has been in use since World War II, originally serving as a barrack for allied troops.
Beyond the hot springs, several homes are available on the property for those wanting to prolong their stay and explore the surrounding black-sand beaches, fields, and cliffs. Guests can enjoy numerous hiking trails, borrow paddleboards, and partake in activities like ocean plunges and breath-work sessions. The on-site Stormur Bistro & Bar features local seafood dishes, including seafood soup and a shrimp and egg sandwich, available to both day visitors and overnight guests.

Moreover, the Icelandair package features a 10-hour guided tour of Iceland’s south coast, including visits to the charming seaside village of Vík, famous for its basalt columns and puffins, as well as the stunning Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls.
Upon returning to Reykjavík, travelers can take advantage of a hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus for one day during their stay and enjoy a lava show designed to educate guests about volcanic activity. Both experiences are part of the airline’s package, and there's an option to include a hotel stay, with various accommodations available at different price ranges.
