American Airlines Introduces 8 New Routes to Enchanting International Beach Destinations

Travelers could experience a much warmer winter this year, thanks to American Airlines. The airline recently announced its plans to expand in the Caribbean and Latin America, introducing eight new routes along with enhanced services on popular routes to coastal getaways.
In total, the airline will provide over 2,350 weekly flights to more than 95 destinations across the region this winter, leading all U.S. airlines. Here’s what you should know about American Airlines’ new route initiatives.
A New Destination: La Romana, Dominican Republic
One of the most notable additions to the service lineup is a new route from Miami (MIA) to La Romana (LRM) on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, situated right near the famed Casa de Campo Resort and Villas and about an hour and a half drive from the capital, Santo Domingo. This service will begin on December 5, marking the first U.S. airline flight to this airport since 2017.

“We’re excited to expand our presence in the Dominican Republic with our eagerly awaited return to La Romana,” stated Oliver Bojos, American Airlines’ regional manager for the Central Caribbean, in an interview with Dinogo. “As we approach our 50th year of service in the country, we look forward to a record operation that underscores our dedication to the Dominican Republic.”
American Airlines already operates flights to four airports in the Dominican Republic: Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Santiago.
Daily service will commence on December 5, utilizing an Airbus A319. The specific schedule for this relatively short flight (and other new or expanded routes) has yet to be announced. Tickets for the La Romana flight, along with all the new routes, will be available on American’s website starting May 20.

In the meantime, upgraded amenity kits featuring skin care products by Thirteen Lune will be available for first, business, and premium economy passengers on international flights. First- and business-class travelers will also receive new dual-sided pillows—one side cool and the other adorned with traditional fabric—along with pajama sets and slippers.
