Breeze is set to introduce four new routes from Washington Dulles, while delaying two from New Orleans.

Breeze Airways is launching its inaugural service from a major airport in the Washington, D.C. area, along with plans for four new routes.

However, delays in aircraft deliveries affecting the global aerospace sector will result in the postponement of two new routes from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) slated for 2025.

New services in the nation's capital

Kicking off with some good news: Breeze announced on Tuesday that it will begin service from Dulles International Airport (IAD).

The carrier's launch at Dulles, situated approximately 26 miles from Washington in Virginia, is imminent—just 10 days away. By November, the Utah-based airline will be operating four new routes from Dulles.

Breeze's inaugural route will link the Washington area to Ogdensburg International Airport (OGS) in New York. This flight will connect the nation's capital with a small community located just across the St. Lawrence River from Canada, around 60 miles from Ottawa.

This route will receive subsidies from the U.S. government under the Essential Air Service program, which is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure basic service levels for small communities.

Breeze is set to expand its presence at Dulles.

Breeze's four new routes from IAD

Here’s the complete list of Breeze's four new routes launching from Dulles this fall:

• IAD to OGS — daily service starting Sept. 27
• IAD to Provo Airport (PVU) in Utah — flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, beginning Oct. 1
• IAD to South Bend International Airport (SBN) in Indiana — operating Mondays and Fridays, starting Nov. 8
• IAD to Vero Beach Airport (VRB) in Florida — flights on Thursdays and Sundays, beginning Nov. 21

Both Dulles and Ogdensburg are new additions to Breeze's network, bringing the total number of communities served nationwide to 66.

Additionally, this expansion will see Breeze strengthen its presence in South Bend, where it just announced its inaugural service in August.

The airline already boasts a substantial and growing presence in Provo and Vero Beach.

Breeze delays New Orleans routes

Not all news is positive. Breeze has announced a delay for the launch of two new routes from New Orleans set for 2025, due to constraints in aircraft delivery.

This situation arises amidst slower delivery schedules at Airbus, which has pointed to supply chain issues as a contributing factor to these delays.

In Breeze's situation, the delays impact the delivery schedule for A220 aircraft. Consequently, the airline will postpone its planned routes from MSY to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) until the fall of 2025, with both initially slated to start in February.

Moreover, these delivery delays will hinder another of Breeze's objectives: to transition to an all-A220 fleet. Although the airline aimed to retire its remaining Embraer jets in favor of A220s by this fall, it now expects to continue operating some Embraers through at least next summer.
