As the official ambassador for Tourism Australia, Chris Hemsworth isn’t just a pretty face—he’s actively representing his homeland and encouraging travel to his beautiful country.

During Super Bowl LII, as the Patriots and Eagles faced off, a 'Crocodile Dundee'-inspired commercial featuring Hemsworth and actor Danny McBride made history as the first-ever tourism ad to air during the Super Bowl. (While Ecuador had an ad years earlier, it wasn’t broadcast in all markets.)

Hemsworth’s role as an ambassador isn’t just about being Australian—he genuinely practices what he preaches. After years in Malibu, California, he and his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, decided to raise their three children away from the Hollywood spotlight in the peaceful town of Byron Bay, Australia.

'I missed Australia,' says the actor, explaining his decision to return home. 'I missed the vibe, the people.'

These days, the Hemsworth kids spend almost all of their time outdoors—swimming, playing, and, like their dad, catching some waves.

Born in Melbourne, Hemsworth had a childhood full of moves, including a time spent in an Aboriginal community. This gave him the chance to experience many parts of Australia, though he’s still always discovering something new about his homeland.

His passion for Australia is infectious. Not only does he adore his country, but he loves to explore its hidden gems and share them with friends. While filming 'Thor: Ragnarok' on the Gold Coast near his home, Hemsworth became a tour guide for his co-stars, including Mark Ruffalo.

Recently, Hemsworth took his family to Uluru to witness breathtaking sunrises and enjoy dinner under the stars. His next adventure? He’s hoping to take a cross-country motorcycle journey with his father.
