Craft Your Own Sunglasses
After what feels like an eternity of frigid weather, I finally got to enjoy a warm getaway! Our house has those old drafty windows, making it feel like the cold is just pouring in. Before we headed out, I decided to give an old pair of sunglasses a makeover to add some vibrant color to our trip! These floral-themed shades are perfect for spring and summer, as well as for all your travels and adventures.
Supplies Needed
- basic plastic sunglasses
- acrylic paints
- small paintbrushes
- acrylic paint sealant (Outdoor ModPodge works great)
Duration: 30 Minutes (Plus Drying Time)
Step 1: Start by cleaning your sunglasses thoroughly to remove any dust or debris, then dry them completely.
Step 2: Using a green paint, create a few whimsical leaf shapes on each temple. Let this layer dry, then add another shade of green for added dimension.
Step 3: Select a vibrant color and paint ruffled flower shapes around the leaves, overlapping them as you go. Begin with one color, let it dry, and then layer another shade on top.
Step 4: With a fine brush and a color that contrasts yet complements your design, outline the flowers to add definition.
Step 5: For an extra burst of color, you can finish off the flowers by painting in a few stamens if desired.
Step 6: Allow the paint to dry completely, then apply a layer of paint sealer to protect your design. Let this sealant dry and cure as well.
I absolutely adore these personalized sunglasses, especially since you can customize them however you like! They provide the perfect splash of color to help me transition into spring and summer. Plus, they’re easy to toss into your bag for your upcoming travels. And here's some exciting news — we’re teaming up with Dinogo for a series of travel-themed DIY projects, so you can prepare for your adventures in style! Keep an eye out for what's next — you're going to love it! xoxo
