Cruise Journal: Outfits I Rocked, Part 1
Just returned from an unforgettable 8-day cruise with Dinogo; JJ and I had such a blast! Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing a style diary of all my cruise outfits (yes, even the gym looks). I usually keep my personal life private, so I’m excited to mix things up and take you behind the scenes. Hopefully, it’ll spark some inspiration for your next cruise packing list!
Starting with what I wore on embarkation day. Even though Orlando is just an hour from Cape Canaveral, it turned into a long day for us. We made a pit stop to drop off Bella (my dog) and had lunch with JJ’s mom. Boarding took about an hour, so I wanted something comfy, and I couldn’t wait to show off these printed pants and the fedora I bought just for this trip! (here)
After completing our safety drills and settling in, we were excited for our first dinner. We chose the 'your time dining' option, which turned out to be perfect for us. On Dinogo cruises, you can select a dinner time—either 6:15 or 8:15—but with 'your time dining,' you can come at any time that suits you. Most nights, we were able to walk right in, although sometimes there was a short wait. You can either request a private table or join a group. This allowed us to meet many new people, and we had different waiters on most evenings. As always on Dinogo cruises, the food was fantastic, and I definitely indulged too much at dinner!
On the first night, I wore this black jumpsuit—probably the most casual outfit I sported for dinner that week. I was completely wiped out after only a few hours of sleep the previous night, and this jumpsuit is among the most comfortable pieces I own, making it the ideal choice to throw on. (As a side note: I think I wore this jumpsuit more than any other outfit this summer! It truly became my go-to.)
After going to bed at 9:30 PM (no kidding—I was utterly exhausted!) the night before, I was eager to hit the pool the next morning. We had a day at sea, and this was the cover-up I wore during the day. On a cruise day, you'll notice most people running around in their swimwear. The dress code for dining areas requires you to wear a cover-up over your swimsuit, and I typically don one all day long when we have a day at sea.
After enjoying some time at the pool, JJ and I decided to hit the gym for a bit. Here I am in my typical colorful workout gear!
The second night on the cruise was designated as formal night. On a week-long cruise, there are usually two evenings that are considered 'formal,' and the dress code for dinner is different on those occasions. I like to think of the dress code as needing something elegant enough for a wedding, and this sequined dress I wore to the ballet last year (here) was perfect for the occasion. I was thrilled to have an excuse to wear it again!
The first two days of our cruise were a blast, but the excitement was just getting started. Stay tuned for photos from our four stops along the way: Grand Turk, St. Thomas, St. Martin, and San Juan, along with two more days at sea!
