Delta and United are set to resume Tel Aviv flights this week

Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are both scheduled to restart their flights to Israel this week.

The two airlines had suspended flights to Tel Aviv following Hamas' attack on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent conflict in Gaza. United briefly resumed services earlier this year but halted them again after tensions escalated between Israel and Iran in April.

During these suspensions, El Al, Israel's national airline, remained the sole carrier operating flights between the U.S. and Tel Aviv.

Now, Delta and United are both returning to Israel, with their flights resuming this weekend.

Here’s the latest update on when airlines will be resuming flights to Israel.

Delta Air Lines flights to Israel

Delta's daily service between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is scheduled to restart on June 7.

Delta will use an Airbus A330-900neo for its daily New York-to-Tel Aviv service, featuring 29 Delta One suites, 28 Premium Select recliners, 56 Comfort+ economy seats, and 168 standard economy seats.

Delta had initially planned to resume flights to Israel on May 1 but pushed the date back by approximately five weeks, aligning with the start of the busy summer season.

The airline explained that it carried out a thorough 'security risk assessment' before deciding to resume flights to Tel Aviv, and it will collaborate with both governmental and private-sector partners to monitor the situation on the ground.

In recent years, Delta has been expanding its network to Israel, adding new routes from Atlanta and Boston in addition to its existing New York service.

Currently, Delta's website does not offer flights from Atlanta or Boston to Israel, and no resumption date has been announced for these routes.

Alongside its direct flights, Delta has expanded its reach in Israel through a new codeshare partnership with El Al. The airline now serves multiple U.S. cities, including New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale.

United Airlines Israel flights

United Airlines is set to resume flights to Israel for the second time since the conflict began in October, with services restarting on June 6.

The airline will relaunch its Flight 84 and Flight 85 — departing from Newark in the early afternoon and from Tel Aviv during the day — on Thursday, June 6. United will also introduce Flight 90 and Flight 91 — an evening flight from Newark and a red-eye service from Tel Aviv — starting Thursday, June 20.

United initially resumed flights 84 and 85 in early March, but the services were suspended again in April due to the Iranian strike. Now, the airline appears ready to align with Delta's planned resumption date.

United intends to reinstate flights from Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. to Israel by the end of October.

These flights are now available for booking on United's website, but the airline has stated it will continue to assess the situation in Tel Aviv and adjust its schedule if needed.

American Airlines Israel flights

American Airlines now operates a single route to Israel, flying from New York to Tel Aviv, after discontinuing its Miami service earlier last year.

American Airlines suspended its Tel Aviv operations following the outbreak of the war and has announced it will not resume flights until the fall.

The airline has scheduled its Tel Aviv flights to return on October 27. In a statement, American emphasized that "the safety and security of our customers and team members remain our highest priorities."
