Delta Introduces New Flights to South America
One of the great perks of the Southern Hemisphere is that when winter chill sets in up north, we can escape to summer warmth. Now, Delta Air Lines is stepping up to help travelers enjoy that sunny getaway with two new seasonal routes to vibrant coastal and cultural hotspots in South America.
Starting October 28, Delta will launch new seasonal flights connecting New York City with Buenos Aires, Argentina’s bustling capital, and will follow up with winter service to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, beginning December 16.
Delta’s Brazil Flight Service
Throughout the winter months, Delta will run daily flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Rio’s Galeão-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (GIG). These flights will be on Delta’s Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and economy class. Departing New York City at 8:30 p.m., they will arrive in Rio at 8:20 a.m. the next day, and will leave Rio at 10:20 a.m. to reach New York by 6:30 p.m. the same day.
Delta currently offers daily flights from JFK to São Paulo, Brazil, and operates twice daily services between Atlanta and São Paulo. Additionally, there’s seasonal service from Atlanta to Rio de Janeiro. Latam provides flights from São Paulo to JFK, Boston, Orlando, and Miami, and this summer, they are launching new flights from Los Angeles to São Paulo with a frequency of three times a week.
Delta’s Services to Argentina
The new daily routes connecting New York’s JFK airport with Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza International Airport, EZE) in Buenos Aires will be operated by Boeing 767-400 aircraft. Passengers will have options for Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and economy class. These flights will depart New York at 8:50 p.m., landing in Buenos Aires at 9 a.m. the next day, and will leave Buenos Aires at 9:15 p.m., arriving in New York at 5:35 a.m. the following morning. Delta also provides year-round daily flights between Atlanta and Buenos Aires.

Delta's Growing Partnership with Latam
These new routes are a significant step in the expanding collaboration between Delta and Latin American airline Latam, which established a joint venture in 2019, ending American Airlines' relationship with Latam through the oneworld Alliance. Approved by regulators in 2022, this partnership has since introduced mutual frequent flier benefits, shared terminal access at JFK in New York, São Paulo in Brazil, and Santiago, Chile, as well as entry to various Delta Sky Club and Latam lounges.
Latam operates flights to destinations across Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Paraguay.
“Since launching our joint venture, we’ve collaborated closely with Latam to roll out exciting new routes that enhance options for travelers between the U.S. and South America,” said Alex Antilla, Delta’s vice president for Latin America.
Customers can book flights between the United States and South America through delta.com or latamairlines.com.
