Delta Introduces New Grab-and-Go Food and Beverage Concept in Two Sky Club Lounges
This week, Delta Air Lines launched a new lounge concept aimed at helping travelers with tight connections quickly grab a bite before heading off. The Atlanta-based airline unveiled grab-and-go areas in two of its busiest U.S. airport lounges, catering to customers who don’t have time to fully experience the Delta Sky Club.
“This option was created with our time-sensitive guests in mind. Travelers can select from a variety of high-quality, portable options to continue their journey through the airport,” stated Claude Roussel, managing director of Delta Sky Clubs, to Dinogo. “Our new offering aims to provide flexibility and convenience based on our customers' travel needs.”
Where can travelers find Delta’s new grab-and-go areas and what are they like?
The two grab-and-go locations are situated within the lobby of these airport lounges:
- Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Concourse B
- John F. Kennedy International Airport, Terminal 4, Concourse B
The grab-and-go areas feature coolers filled with a variety of beverages (including sodas, teas, and juices), prepackaged sandwiches and salads, fruit cups, veggie platters, and yogurts. Guests can also find a counter for pouring drip coffee and baskets of non-perishable snacks, such as chips and granola bars.
Access to the grab-and-go areas is available to anyone who generally holds Delta Sky Club privileges, including Sky Club members, Delta One or SkyTeam Premium Cabin passengers, and Delta Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion members. Additionally, holders of American Express Centurion and Platinum Cards can enter if flying with Delta that day.
What food and drink options can travelers expect from Delta’s grab-and-go experience?
Unlike the main lounge where food and drinks are freely accessible, Delta's grab-and-go areas have more structured access. Guests can select one item from each of the following categories:
- Options include a warm breakfast wrap (morning only), a snack box, a sandwich, or an entrée salad
- Selection of a snack (chips, fruit, vegetables, or nuts)
- Choice of a sweet treat (yogurt, muffin, dessert, or granola bar)
- Selection of a beverage (soda, bottled water, tea, juice, or coffee)
Changes coming to the lounge
Given that the Atlanta and JFK Sky Club lounges experience the highest traffic in the brand, Roussel noted that testing the grab-and-go concept in these locations is a sensible approach for customers seeking a faster alternative to the traditional Club experience.
Roussel mentioned, "We aim to begin with the in-lobby models, gather insights from the pilot phase, and then expand to a standalone concourse model later this summer."
Delta has also announced new Delta Sky Club lounges set to open at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, and Newark Liberty International Airport in 2023. Plans are underway for expanding existing lounges at Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Additionally, Delta opened a new 21,000-square-foot lounge in April at Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport, featuring a year-round Sky Deck that accommodates up to 110 guests.
