Luxurious hotels provide a perfect remedy for jet lag, but it was the warm hospitality of the staff that made these places feel like a home away from home, even across multiple time zones.

Voting Process Explained

Each year for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L invites readers to share their travel experiences worldwide—offering insights on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines, and more. In 2024, over 186,000 T+L readers participated in the survey, casting more than 700,000 votes across 8,700 properties (including hotels, cities, and cruise lines).

Hotels were categorized as resort hotels, city hotels, inns, or safari lodges based on their location and facilities, and were specifically evaluated according to the following criteria:

Proximity
Service quality
Culinary options
Cost-effectiveness

For each attribute, participants rated hotels as excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The overall scores are calculated as averages of these ratings.

What Readers Appreciated

In some of the world's most vibrant cities, T+L readers highlighted their favorite hotels in Asia, particularly for their unique personal touches. One reader praised the staff at Taj Lands End in Mumbai (No. 8), stating, “it’s my second home.” Similarly, The Leela Palace New Delhi (No. 9) made a reader feel “more like family than just another guest.”

In contrast to 2023, when South Korea was absent from the rankings, readers expressed strong admiration for Seoul hotels, securing three positions: Signiel Seoul (No. 11), Four Seasons Hotel Seoul (No. 12), and JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul (No. 15). Additionally, at gastronomic hotspots like Regent Hong Kong (No. 2), which features the two-Michelin-starred Lai Ching Heen, readers celebrated hotels known for their culinary offerings.
