Since the parks have reopened, guests are required to wear face masks at all times, except when eating or swimming. Now, Disney also mandates that guests remain stationary while eating and maintain at least six feet of distance from others before removing their masks to eat or drink.
"All Guests (aged 2 and older) and Cast Members must wear face coverings at all times, except when dining or swimming. It is recommended to bring your own masks and keep them on, unless you are stationary while eating or drinking and maintaining proper physical distance," according to the latest guidelines on Disney's website. This rule is applicable not just in the theme park but also in Disney Springs and common areas of hotels and resorts.
Guests are now required to use designated "mask relaxation zones" featuring spaced-out tables if they need to take off their masks for any reason, including to cool off. This update aims to address the loophole in the mask policy that allowed guests to roam without masks while enjoying Mickey-shaped pretzels or drinks.

In addition to wearing face masks, visitors to Disney World must make advance reservations to enter the theme parks, undergo temperature checks, and adhere to social distancing while waiting in line for rides. Disney is also reducing capacity and enhancing cleaning protocols, although ride vehicles and tables in quick-service restaurants won't be sanitized between guests.
This update comes as COVID-19 cases are on the rise, particularly in Florida, which has recorded over 360,000 confirmed cases. Many of the country's major hotel chains, including Marriott and Hyatt, are also mandating mask use in public areas.
