This epic rail adventure kicks off on August 28, 2024, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where travelers will hop aboard the Rocky Mountaineer to navigate the stunning Canadian Rockies to Jasper. Afterward, you'll transfer to Calgary (in Alberta) for a flight to Edinburgh. In Scotland, board the Belmond Royal Scotsman for a week of exploring the Scottish Highlands by train. Then, it’s off to London and onward to Paris via individual train journeys, culminating in a ride on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in Paris.
Upon arriving in Venice, travelers will be taken to Florence for three nights, followed by three more in Rome, before heading to Delhi. There, a six-night experience aboard the Maharajas’ Express to Mumbai awaits, featuring stops at the Taj Mahal, Amber Fort in Jaipur, and City Palace in Udaipur. From Mumbai, travelers will catch a flight to Istanbul. After spending three nights in Istanbul and two days in Cappadocia, a five-night journey on the Golden Eagle Danube Express will take them through Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary, finishing in Budapest. Finally, passengers will fly to Johannesburg; after some time at Kruger National Park, they will board the Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Cape Town.
After four nights in Cape Town, guests will fly to Singapore for the final segment of the journey, which includes three nights aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express traveling through Malaysia.
Starting at $113,599 per person, this extraordinary journey encompasses all train rides, meals, luxurious hotel stays, private ground transfers, sightseeing, and excursions. However, travelers will need to arrange their own international flights for segments between the rail portions of the trip (including routes from Calgary to Edinburgh, Rome to Delhi, Mumbai to Istanbul, Budapest to Johannesburg, and Cape Town to Singapore).
This trip offers 24 nights aboard luxury trains in private accommodations with included meals, alongside 52 nights at premium hotels such as the Fairmont resorts in Vancouver, Jasper, Banff, and Lake Louise; the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh; Hotel Cipriani, a Belmond Hotel, in Venice; InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace; the Imperial Hotel in Delhi; the Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai; and the Four Seasons in Budapest.
Included excursions feature a nighttime vintage car tour of Rome, a hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia in Türkiye, thrilling game drives in Kruger National Park, and an evening of dinner and entertainment at the Moulin Rouge in Paris.
If 80 days isn't feasible for you, there's no need to worry. You can opt for any combination of the seven rail journeys available.
Railbookers’ 2024 “Around the World by Luxury Train” experience was inspired by the tremendous success of a similar itinerary launched in 2019. The 57-day Around the World by Rail trip spanned four continents, with over 20 city stops along the route.
