Here are the most recent U.S. travel advisories for 2021
The global coronavirus pandemic has affected every nation, even reaching as remote as Antarctica. As Americans and other countries navigate the COVID-19 crisis, it’s crucial to review the travel advisories issued by the U.S. Department of State, particularly since these advisories are frequently updated.
At the time of this publication, 87 countries are classified under the strict Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory.
Coronavirus
COVID-19 continues to pose a global threat. Americans facing COVID-19 related emergencies abroad should reach out to the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate, or contact the State Department assistance call center:
- From the U.S. & Canada - 1-888-407-4747
- From International Locations - +1 202-501-4444
- Sign up for STEP — the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program
If you already have travel arrangements in place, closely monitor local travel restrictions and guidelines to help curb the spread of the disease. The only travel insurance type that provides a partial refund is "cancel for any reason" (CFAR) insurance. However, airlines are offering flexible schedule adjustments and refunds for affected travel.
Numerous countries still impose travel restrictions and/or extra entry requirements for U.S. travelers visiting foreign countries. Before traveling, verify the requirements of your intended destinations to ensure you possess all necessary documents and any required tests. Otherwise, you risk being denied entry or even sent back upon arrival.
To assist you in staying informed, TPG maintains a list of all advisories that have been issued or updated as of July 2021, including all Level 4 advisories to date. You can also find the complete collection of travel advisories on the State Department's website.
