How and why to sign up for Choice Hotels' Personalized Weeknight Perks

Whether you're a regular user of the Choice Privileges program or just stay occasionally, it's beneficial to stay updated on the latest Choice Privileges promotions.
A promotion that’s valuable to know about, even if you don’t often book with Choice Hotels, is the Personalized Weeknight Benefits. (Previously known as Your Extras, some parts of the Choice Hotels website still reference this terminology.)
Signing up for this promotion takes under a minute, and after enrolling, you'll enjoy personalized benefits during each weeknight stay at Choice Hotels. These perks can add at least a few dollars of extra value to your weeknight stays, so here's what you should know.
What exactly are Personalized Weeknight Benefits?
Personalized Weeknight Benefits provide added perks when you check in for a points-eligible stay that includes a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night. To qualify for these benefits, you must enroll in the program (instructions are provided below) and choose your reward preference through the Choice Hotels app or website.
You can earn a Personalized Weeknight Benefit for only one reservation each day, and only one benefit per qualifying points-eligible stay, no matter how many rooms, nights, check-ins, or checkouts you have. Specifically, checking out of a hotel and then rechecking into the same hotel later that same day will not earn you an additional benefit.

What options do I have for Personalized Weeknight Benefits?
The choices for your Personalized Weeknight Benefits vary based on your country of residence. If you live in the U.S., you can select from the following options:
- 400 Choice Privileges points
- 100 miles with one of six airline loyalty programs (including Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and United Airlines MileagePlus)
- $2.50 credit for Amazon
- $5 gift card for Starbucks
- $3 discount on an Uber trip
As a resident of Canada, you can select one of the following options:
- 400 Choice Privileges points
- 100 miles with a participating airline loyalty program
- CA$2.50 Amazon.ca gift card
- CA$5 Tim Hortons gift card
- CA$5 coffee gift card
If you reside outside the U.S. or Canada, you can choose from the following options:
- 400 Choice Privileges points
- 100 miles with a participating airline loyalty program
You can adjust your earning preferences at any time. However, the benefits for each eligible stay will be based on your account choice prior to check-in. Most benefits will be provided during your stay or soon after, though airline miles may take up to six weeks to appear after your stay ends.

How can I sign up for Personalized Weeknight Benefits?
Even if you don’t have any weeknight stays planned with Choice, it’s a good idea to register for Personalized Weeknight Benefits now to ensure you don’t miss out on future opportunities. Here’s how you can do it:
- Log into your Choice account, click your name in the top right corner, and select "My Profile."
- Scroll down to the "Your Extras Preferences" section and follow the instructions provided.
This is the section of your account to visit if you wish to modify your selection.
You only need to sign up for Personalized Weeknight Benefits a single time. However, to earn these benefits, you must set your earning preference to Choice Privileges points in your online account. Here’s how to set your earning preference to Choice Privileges points:
- Log into your account, click your name in the top right corner, and choose "My Profile."
- On the right side of the page, in the "Loyalty Programs" section, click "Edit."
- Choose "Choice Privileges® Reward Points" as your earning preference and click "Save Earning Preference."
Lastly, be aware that certain properties—WoodSpring Suites locations, some third-party (non-Choice) hotels, and select MainStay Suites, Suburban Studios, Everhome Suites, and Ascend Hotel Collection locations—do not participate in the Personalized Weeknight Benefits program.
In summary
If you have a Choice Privileges account, it's advisable to sign up for Personalized Weeknight Benefits. For most U.S. residents, earning Starbucks coffee cards tends to offer the greatest monetary value. Personally, I prefer accumulating Choice Privileges points as I find their value comparable, and I rarely visit Starbucks.
While the Personalized Weeknight Benefits program might not drastically alter your travel habits, it can serve as a useful tiebreaker when choosing between two hotels for a weeknight stay. In short, taking a minute or two to enroll in the Personalized Weeknight Benefits program is definitely worthwhile if you haven’t done so yet.
