How I Capitalized on Hyatt’s Double Elite Nights Promotion to Achieve Globalist Status
In the past, I often felt overlooked when it came to the best frequent flyer or hotel loyalty promotions that seemed to be handed out by the points and miles deities. Even my recent Amex Offers appeared lackluster compared to the exciting deals reported by many other TPG members. For some reason, the algorithms just weren’t favoring me.
However, my fortunes finally changed with two enticing World of Hyatt promotions. As I eagerly await the influx of my elite qualifying nights and bonus points, I feel like Scrooge McDuck swimming in a giant pile of riches. It feels amazing!
In addition to using two World of Hyatt promotions to quickly secure Globalist status, my recent stays with Hyatt have also allowed me to:
- Earn World of Hyatt points and American Airlines AAdvantage miles
- Get closer to achieving AAdvantage Platinum Pro elite status for 2025-2026
By the end of this journey, I will have stayed at five new hotels and explored three destinations, requalified for World of Hyatt Globalist status with 20 elite qualifying nights added to my account, and accrued over 30,000 Hyatt points along with more than 30,000 American AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points. Read on to discover how I accomplished this.

The primary promotion: Double elite night credits at any location
I was shocked when the registration email for this summer promotion appeared in my inbox: Double elite qualifying nights, up to 10 nights, at any property within the World of Hyatt portfolio.
HYATT*Please note that registration for this targeted promotional email closed on July 6.
Honestly, I’m not quite sure why Hyatt selected me for this promotion. I was already on track to achieve Globalist status again through February 2026. Typically, I earn elite status through a mix of stays and spending on my World of Hyatt Credit Card (which gives me two qualifying nights for every $5,000 spent) and my World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (which offers five qualifying nights for every $10,000 spent). I can only assume that my spending pattern is something Hyatt wants to reward.
I often use my accumulated points or Guest of Honor awards to book stays for family and friends, introducing them to the World of Hyatt program. The last two family reunions I organized were held at Hyatt properties (the Hyatt Regency Maui and Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere).
Even though I hold Globalist status and have access to suite upgrade awards, which secure me a standard suite (subject to availability) at the time of booking, I frequently pay cash for suites, particularly premium ones. If I desire a specific room or suite, I simply book it with cash. This way, I earn points and can use them at hotels where I don’t have a specific room preference.
For hotels that don’t accept suite upgrade awards, I often reach out to the reservations team via email to ask about paid room upgrades. Overall, while I enjoy booking hotels using points, I’m not hesitant to spend cash if it means getting the experience I desire.
It seems that Hyatt may want to reward customers in this manner. Of course, that’s merely speculation. There’s no definitive way to know why I was chosen while others were not. Perhaps Hyatt is seeking more Globalists who reside in my state or fall within my age group. Your guess is as good as mine.
Double dipping with the bonus points offer for Latin America and the Caribbean
But wait, there’s even more!
HYATTHyatt reached out to members via email, inviting them to earn 5,000 bonus points for every three eligible nights (up to a total of 20,000 bonus points) at participating hotels in Latin America and the Caribbean. Registration is required by Sept. 30 to earn points on stays completed between July 15 and Oct. 14.
I’m booked for six nights in Mexico during the promotion’s eligible dates, so I’ll earn 10,000 bonus points from this offer. What a win!
How I’m taking advantage of the Hyatt promotions
Always review the terms of the offer before clicking the registration button. For the double elite nights promotion, it specified that I’d have 90 days from registration to utilize it, and that I needed to register by July 6. After reading that, I promptly opened my calendar to check my existing bookings.
Stay No. 1 for 3 bonus qualifying nights
My first confirmed stay at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in New Mexico was scheduled for June 22, so I planned to register for this offer on June 21. I wanted to give myself an extra day as a safety net in case of any technical issues that might require me to contact my World of Hyatt concierge. I set a calendar alert to ensure I wouldn’t forget.
This way, I could extend other Hyatt stays through Sept. 20 and have them qualify for this promotion. Since this stay was for three nights, I ended up with six elite qualifying nights: three as usual and three bonus nights from the promotion.
Although the promotion indicated that bonus nights could take up to four weeks to appear, mine were credited to my account just two days after my stay ended.
HYATTThe Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort is a Category 4 hotel, so I booked this stay using three Category 1-4 free night certificates. These certificates can be earned through the World of Hyatt Credit Card or by completing certain Hyatt milestone activities.
During my stay, I only paid cash for food and drinks, adding just 3,524 Hyatt points to my account. That’s enough for a one-night stay at a Category 1 hotel during off-peak dates — not too shabby.
I earned 1,723 points from Hyatt based on $265 of qualifying spending (5 base points per dollar on $265 totals 1,325 points, plus a 30% bonus for my current Globalist status).
I used my World of Hyatt Credit Card to pay for the stay, which earned me 1,801 points from Chase (4 points per dollar on the total of $450.25). This brings my total to 3,524 points when combining the 1,801 points and the 1,723 points.
Stay No. 2 for 4 bonus qualifying nights
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel. MELANIE LIEBERMAN/DinogoBefore the promotion, I had a tentative booking for mid-September at a hotel, but I was already leaning toward canceling it and finding another option. (Classic husband-and-wife disagreement on vacation destinations.) This promo gave us the chance to reevaluate that plan and make a change.
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, has long been on our travel wishlist. I was also eager to explore the Zoetry Casa del Mar Los Cabos and earn another Brand Explorer credit, making this the perfect chance to visit both hotels in one trip.
I reserved two nights at each location, which translates to eight elite qualifying nights: four from the usual stay plus four bonus nights. With this recent visit, I've now accrued a total of seven bonus elite qualifying nights through this promotion.
Zoetry Casa del Mar Los Cabos
I paid in cash for my stay at Zoetry and earned 12,710 Hyatt points: 5,945 points from the room rate, an extra 30% bonus due to my Globalist status, and 4 points for every dollar spent thanks to my World of Hyatt Credit Card.
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel
I redeemed 60,000 points for a two-night stay at The Cape, using my suite upgrade award for the Thompson Suite. Although our total bill was just $388 in qualifying expenses, I still accrued 7,519 World of Hyatt points. This included 2,519 points from qualifying spending and my elite status bonus, plus 5,000 bonus points for staying three nights in Mexico. I settled the hotel charges with my World of Hyatt Credit Card, resulting in a total of 10,335 World of Hyatt points for my stay at The Cape.
Stay No. 3 for three bonus qualifying nights.
Numu Boutique Hotel located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. HYATTWhen considering where to earn my final three bonus qualifying nights for Globalist status, I chose San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It’s a destination my husband and I have been eager to explore; we’ve heard it’s a favored spot for retirees, and as we’re at that stage in life, we’re keen to check out such places.
Given the flight schedule, we’ll fly to Dallas and spend the night at the Grand Hyatt DFW before departing for Queretaro, Mexico, the next morning. After that, we’ll enjoy two nights at Numu Boutique Hotel in San Miguel de Allende, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.
I'm using points to book a night at the Grand Hyatt DFW, so I won't earn any points there unless we eat at the hotel's restaurant.
At Numu, I’m paying $332 per night, which will yield approximately 6,972 Hyatt points for my two-night stay (5 base points for each dollar spent, boosted by a 30% bonus for Globalist status, plus an additional 4 points per dollar when using my World of Hyatt Credit Card).
Thanks to various Hyatt promotions and strategic planning for my stays, I will achieve 62 elite qualifying nights, not including the reservations I have for after the promotion concludes on September 20. You only need 60 elite qualifying nights to qualify for Globalist status. If I continue at this pace, I’ll surpass 70 nights this year and qualify for another Milestone Reward.
Hyatt-American Airlines dual accrual
There's another Hyatt benefit I’d like to highlight that will enhance both my Hyatt and American Airlines points: the Hyatt-American dual accrual program.
By connecting your Hyatt and American accounts, members can earn 1 World of Hyatt bonus point for every dollar spent on qualifying American Airlines flights. This is in addition to the American AAdvantage miles earned as an AAdvantage member. Similarly, you’ll earn American AAdvantage miles for eligible expenses with Hyatt. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement!
Check your hotel folio under the World of Hyatt Summary section to see your eligible spending; you will receive that amount in miles credited to your American AAdvantage account.
HYATTI’m working on requalifying for AAdvantage Platinum Pro, so I value any extra Loyalty Points I can accumulate. The chart below outlines the Hyatt points I earned from my American Airlines flights.

Enhance your loyalty program profile to be more appealing for promotions.
There’s no guaranteed method to be targeted for highly rewarding promotions in any frequent flyer or hotel loyalty program. Sometimes, promotions are offered to the most loyal members, while other times, the focus is on enticing those who are less loyal to engage further.
However, there are a few steps you can take to increase your chances of receiving notifications about promotions open to all members:
- Review your account profile and complete any section related to your travel preferences, as some programs use this information to filter and send targeted offers.
- Ensure you have opted in to receive program and marketing communications.
- Register for promotions, even if you don’t plan to use them. Sometimes, adding promotions to your account can lead to more promotional emails appearing in your inbox.
Key Takeaway
When an amazing promotion appears in your inbox, make sure to read the terms carefully and devise a strategy to take full advantage of it—if it aligns with your plans. However, don’t hesitate to disregard promotions that don’t fit your needs or if you lack the time or funds to utilize them.
I was also targeted for an offer of double elite nights at Hyatt properties in Florida. While I reside in that state and could fit in a few stays, I won’t require the bonus nights to achieve Globalist status this year. Additionally, there aren’t any hotels in Florida that I’m particularly eager to visit right now. So, I’ll be passing on this offer—even though it’s exciting and potentially rewarding.
Evaluate your promotional offers and focus on the ones that make sense for you while leaving the others aside.
