Your rewards: Earn 1,000 bonus AAdvantage miles for each qualifying stay of two or more nights, with a maximum of 15,000 miles available.
According to IHG One Rewards' terms and conditions, eligible rates include reward nights, allowing you to earn bonus miles even when booking with points. If you pay with cash, you'll receive additional miles at most brands. Through its partnership with American Airlines, you can earn 2 AAdvantage miles for every dollar spent on qualifying room rates at all IHG brands, except Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites (which earn 1 mile per dollar spent) and The Venetian Las Vegas (which does not earn miles).
For instance, if you booked a two-night stay at a Holiday Inn for $300 before taxes and fees, you would accumulate a total of 1,600 miles (2 miles per dollar spent times $300 plus 1,000 bonus miles). This total is in addition to any rewards earned from your credit card used for the payment.
However, keep in mind that choosing to earn AAdvantage miles (or any other airline rewards) during your IHG stays means you'll miss out on earning hotel points. This means that by taking advantage of this promotion, you won’t accrue any IHG One Rewards points. You will still earn elite qualifying night credits and enjoy any elite status benefits during your stay.
How to use your AAdvantage miles

According to TPG's August 2024 valuations, AAdvantage miles are valued at 1.7 cents each. If you fully utilize this promotion, your bonus miles (15,000) would amount to about $255. Even if you can't manage to complete 15 two-night stays this fall, the bonus miles you accumulate could take you further than you might expect.
American Airlines offers numerous domestic award flights for less than 10,000 AAdvantage miles. For example, if you're based in Denver, you could escape the winter chill this December with a weekend trip to San Diego for just 7,500 miles each way.

Alternatively, if you're located on the East Coast, you could arrange a ski trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in January for as little as 6,000 miles each way.

You might also consider saving your bonus miles for larger redemptions, such as business-class tickets on partner airlines or off-peak travel to the Caribbean and Mexico.
Conclusion
AAdvantage miles represent a valuable rewards currency, and IHG's recent promotion allows you to accumulate more through hotel stays this fall. This offer is particularly beneficial for weekend travelers, as you’ll maximize your rewards by booking multiple separate stays of two nights or longer.
