Kristin Chenoweth reveals why her husband is the ultimate travel companion, shares her favorite spots in NYC, and more.
Kristin Chenoweth's husband might just be the ultimate travel buddy. 'He’s the best travel companion — that’s part of why I married him,' she shared with Dinogo. 'I’m a nervous flyer, and he helps me through it. He holds my hand during takeoff and landing.'
Aside from having an incredible husband, her flight must-haves include sanitizing wipes, a face mask, and her mouth guard and neck support. 'It’s so glamorous!' she quipped.
The newlyweds, who tied the knot last September, embarked on their first journey to Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort in Cabo San Lucas. For Bryant, it was his inaugural visit to Mexico, and Chenoweth opted to turn it into a group getaway. 'We had just met and fell in love so quickly,' she recalled. 'I did what you’re not supposed to do and brought him along with some friends.' He was instantly excited about the location, leading them to return the next year and again for their honeymoon.

Years ago, while performing with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, she experienced 'kaleidoscope eyes' with flashing lights, followed by nausea, and a sensation like a 'sledgehammer' pounding her head. After being advised to reduce stress and limit flying—an impractical suggestion given her travel schedule—she discovered Botox for Chronic Migraine. Initially apprehensive, she now considers it a lifesaver.
'Without this treatment, I would have to retire,' she remarked, noting that the numerous lights she encounters in her career—ranging from stage spotlights to paparazzi flashes and laptop screens—are significant migraine triggers.
In addition to maintaining a low-sodium diet and abstaining from alcohol to manage her symptoms, the treatment empowers her to gain better control over her health. It's been so transformative that she has partnered with the brand to advocate for its benefits, even guest editing a special edition of Center Stage with Chronic Migraine to share her journey.
With effective pain management, Chenoweth has continued to captivate audiences since she first portrayed Glinda in Wicked in 2003. Alongside Idina Menzel as Elphaba, they carved their names into musical theater history, evolving and growing together in their roles. 'Only she and I can say, “Look what we created together.” We’re incredibly proud of the legacy we’ve built.' Now, the show is more than just a Broadway success; it's a must-see experience for visitors to New York City and perfect for theater newcomers, according to Chenoweth.

'You absolutely need to know about it,' she said, referring to a hidden gem that serves as a speakeasy often frequented by performers. 'We all know the routine there since we’re juggling eight shows a week — I truly enjoy going there!''
Her other recommendations for NYC include visiting cultural hotspots like the Whitney Museum of American Art and attending performances by the Metropolitan Opera, New York Pops, New York City Ballet, and, of course, plenty of Broadway shows.
Above all, she emphasizes one key piece of advice for visitors: 'Wear flats, or at least a kitten heel,' she advised, noting the extensive walking involved. 'You’d be out of your mind to wear anything higher than that!'
