Marriott Bonvoy has enhanced its co-branded credit card lineup with the launch of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card from Chase. This increases the total to five personal Marriott Bonvoy cards, each enabling travelers to earn points more quickly, ultimately redeemable at over 8,100 Marriott Bonvoy properties.
The introduction of these new cards also includes a significant upgrade—and an increased annual fee—for Marriott’s premium card, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card.
In this guide, we'll cover the Bevy, Bountiful, and Brilliant cards, comparing them with the established options—the Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card.
Two new cards, nearly indistinguishable products
The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card from Chase are almost identical regarding benefits, welcome offers, and more. The primary distinction lies in the card issuer.
Ideal for: Travelers aiming to earn hotel award nights rapidly while enjoying automatic Gold Status with Marriott, without paying the annual fee associated with the Brilliant card.
Welcome offer for the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express Card: Earn 85,000 points after spending $5,000 within the first six months of account opening.
Welcome offer for the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card: Earn 85,000 points after spending $4,000 within your first three months of opening the account.
Annual fee: $250 (See rates and fees for details.)
Points earning: Earn up to 18.5 points per dollar at Marriott Bonvoy hotels, four points at restaurants globally and U.S. supermarkets (up to $15,000 in total annual purchases), and double points on all other spending.
Credits: None available
Key benefits: Cardholders automatically receive Gold Status and accumulate 15 elite night credits each calendar year (which is five more than Silver, aiding your ascent up the elite ladder). Additionally, earn 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy Bonus Points with each eligible stay and a Free Night Award (valid for redemption at or below 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points) after reaching $15,000 in annual spending.
The Enhanced Brilliant Card
The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card was relaunched on September 22, 2022, featuring new benefits such as Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite Status (upgraded from Gold Status) and a more valuable annual anniversary Free Night Award, now worth up to 85,000 points instead of the previous 50,000. These enhancements come with a higher annual fee, rising from $450 to $650. (See rates and fees for more information.)
Ideal for: Marriott enthusiasts who can fully leverage Platinum Elite Status, which typically requires 50 nights of stay annually, offering perks like lounge access, premium room upgrades, and 4 p.m. late checkout, all subject to availability.
Welcome offer: Earn 95,000 points after spending $6,000 within the first six months of opening your account.
Annual fee: $650
Points earning: Earn up to 21 points for every dollar spent at Marriott Bonvoy participating hotels, three points at restaurants around the globe and on flights booked directly with airlines, and double points on all other purchases.
Credits: Receive up to $300 in statement credits each calendar year (allocated as $25 per month) for dining expenses at restaurants worldwide. This replaces the prior annual $300 in statement credits for Marriott Bonvoy hotel stays. Additionally, get up to $100 back for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application fees.
Key benefits: Cardholders automatically gain Platinum Status and earn 25 elite night credits each calendar year (which surpasses Gold level, helping you advance up the elite tier). Receive one Free Night Award annually after your card renewal month, redeemable for one night up to 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. Enjoy complimentary Priority Pass Select Membership (enrollment required), which provides access for the cardholder and two guests to over 1,400 airline lounges worldwide.
Card Comparison
Since March 2022, Marriott Bonvoy adopted a dynamic pricing model for points redemptions (moving away from fixed award charts and official hotel categories), yet the loyalty program still offers great chances for securing free nights at its premium brands. The introduction of two new cards, along with an enhanced Brilliant, opens up fresh avenues for accumulating Marriott points. However, for casual visitors, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card may remain the better options.
To assist you in selecting the right card for your needs, we've gathered essential details for all five Marriott Bonvoy consumer cards—Bold, Boundless, Bevy, Bountiful, and Brilliant—in a straightforward table below.
Key Insights
Travelers now have a choice of five different Marriott Bonvoy credit cards, an increase from three. The newcomers, Bevy and Bountiful, are designed for those who frequent Marriott more than just occasionally but aren't yet loyalists. For casual users, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card remains the best option due to its low annual fee and high rewards, while the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card is ideal for dedicated Marriott fans, especially with the addition of Platinum Status benefits.
