Marriott’s Luxury Collection has launched its inaugural hotel in Germany.

Munich's hotel landscape welcomes a new luxury contender — and Marriott Bonvoy members have special reasons to rejoice.
This week, The Luxury Collection, part of Marriott Bonvoy, unveiled its first German hotel: Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich. Situated in Stachus Square, the property boasts 106 guest rooms and suites, featuring a modern design by Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos and the design firm Landau + Kindelbacher, seamlessly integrated into the historic structure.
Philipp Weghmann, vice president and global brand leader of The Luxury Collection, remarked, "The launch of Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich represents a pivotal moment for our brand as we enter Germany — a dynamic destination for luxury travelers. This hotel reflects the rich cultural fabric of the country. By introducing our unique philosophy and exceptional experiences to Munich, we are set to provide guests with an unmatched fusion of luxury hospitality and local character."
Art will play a key role at the hotel, with guests and visitors treated to a diverse collection of Bavarian and international artworks from notable artists including Joseph Beuys, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, and David John Flynn.
The guest rooms and suites will showcase a blend of dark wood paneling, stunning city views, and large windows. Local elements like welcome cards designed by Munich artist Alexandra von Frankenberg, a signature Koenigshof fragrance, and a specially crafted "Munich Serenity" tea in collaboration with Samova Tea will enhance the authentic Munich experience. Guests can also enjoy amenities such as Dyson Supersonic hair dryers, Nespresso machines, Bose speakers, and Byredo toiletries throughout their stay.
The crown jewel is the expansive 2,690-square-foot, two-story Presidential Suite, touted as the largest in Munich. This lavish space features a private sauna, a pool, and a spa, perfect for those looking to unwind in complete privacy and luxury.
The addition of The Luxury Collection to Munich's hotel offerings coincides with a recent surge in luxury accommodations in the city: Rosewood Munich opened late last year, and the Mandarin Oriental, Munich — previously recognized as the pinnacle of ultra-luxury in the city — underwent significant renovations at the end of 2020.
Helen Leighton, vice president of luxury brands for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Marriott International, stated, "Munich is one of Europe’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities, steeped in history, making it a perfect location for The Luxury Collection — a brand celebrated for its commitment to authenticity and delivering genuine local experiences."
Koenigshof attracts visitors not only for its luxurious rooms but also for its dining options. On the ninth floor, Greta Oto offers breathtaking city views alongside Latin American dishes crafted by Peruvian chef Michael Cánepa. The Green serves local Bavarian specialties, while The Gold lounge, located on the third floor, provides a cozy, residential atmosphere with an outdoor terrace, ideal for enjoying a Koenigshof Bellini — a signature cocktail made with mountain peach puree, Amalfi Coast lemon oil, and Ruinart Brut Champagne — along with a good book.
"Nestled in the city's core, Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich, debuts with a modern aesthetic, outstanding service, and a wealth of culinary experiences," Leighton remarked. "We are excited to elevate luxury hospitality in Germany and eagerly anticipate welcoming global travelers as they discover this captivating destination."
