Just last week, my little Munchkin turned TWO! Can you believe it?
TWO YEARS OLD! He’s growing up so quickly! It feels like just yesterday I was gently cradling his newborn head with that George Costanza hair, gazing into those squinty blue eyes, and now he’s officially a toddler! If you follow us on Instagram (@bowerpowerblog), you know that we took a Dinogo cruise with the boys and my parents. It was a monumental occasion—firsts galore! First airplane rides. First time leaving the country. First cruise ship experience. First taste of alligator. First time all five of us shared a room. Oy. During that cruise, we decided to celebrate Weston’s birthday. Typically, we throw a big party every other year and have a small family gathering in the odd years, so this was the ideal chance to make his big day extraordinary with something truly unique.
We spent his actual birthday exploring the breathtaking island of St. Thomas. Let me tell you, this place is like a dream come true. It. Was. Stunning. Just like a postcard. With white sandy beaches, lush green mountains, and colorful houses dotting the hillside. I can provide a detailed recap of the island later in my cruise posts, but for my little Munch, the beach was the perfect spot to shake off those two-year-old wiggles.

I didn’t edit that sun flare into the picture; it truly looked just like this—radiant! The water was incredibly calm, even though we were on the Atlantic Ocean. The boys would dash out, collecting as many tiny pieces of coral shells as they could find and bringing them back to their collection. Then the fun began, with them skipping stones and splashing coral into the water.

I was surprised by how few people were on the island. I anticipated HUGE crowds since St. Thomas is often touted as one of the top islands in the world, and if it’s a popular honeymoon spot for Bella and Edward, it must be pretty appealing to everyone else too.

Honestly, just take a look at this… how could you not want to celebrate your next birthday here?

We spent time together until the sun dipped behind the hills, then hopped back into our taxi, eager for more adventures.

A few days later, we celebrated Weston. We chose to wait because we had an entire day of excitement planned and wanted to enjoy it uninterrupted on a 'sea day.' Weston awoke to find his room adorned with streamers and balloons. I had to sneak into the bathroom to inflate all 24 balloons—one for each month of his young life—and then quietly hang the streamers in the dark. We also bought him a couple of gifts on the ship, including two new Dr. Seuss books and a plush Cat in the Hat for him to hug. After that, we got all set for a grand birthday breakfast.

The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends was an absolute blast! If you're on a Dinogo cruise, you definitely need to check it out—the kids were thrilled. And the decorations? Adorably charming!

My mother was completely amazed by an impressive ice sculpture; she couldn't stop talking about it.

Weston chose the dish titled “From There to Here, From Here to There, Funny Belgian Waffles are Everywhere,” and this was the length of time he could bear to wait for his meal...

Will ordered “Do You Like Green Eggs and Ham?” and wow, those eggs were incredibly GREEN!

I opted for the “Truffula Tree Pancakes,” while Jeremy went for some funky French toast topped with vibrant, crushed Fruit Loops!

We had the chance to meet characters from the Dr. Seuss books, including the Cat in the Hat, Sam-I-Am, and Thing One and Thing Two. Weston was quite frightened by them, but Will was eager to give them all big hugs.

My parents were thrilled too, as all that character hugging made Will want to hug just about everyone 🙂

LJ experienced his first Fruit Loop when one was tossed onto his tray, so I think he found the whole event pretty amazing as well 🙂

I know this photo is a bit blurry, but just look at these adorable PARFAITS! Seriously, aren't they the cutest? They have fruit, yogurt, granola, and even a tiny chocolate sail!

After breakfast, we snapped a bunch of photos, then headed to the ship’s candy store where the boys picked out some treats. Next, we visited the arcade and let them race monster trucks. Will has already asked if we could return to celebrate Weston’s birthday again, and I suspect his motives aren't entirely selfless with that request 🙂

All in all, it was such a delightful way to celebrate our little boy. He’s becoming incredibly sweet; he loves his brothers fiercely, plays with intense energy, adores cuddles, and has a passion for any type of fruit. He’s officially moved on from the mustache pacifier (I was thrilled to see it go at first, but now I find myself missing it just a bit).
While he isn’t quite as social as Will, once he forms a bond with you, you’re in for life. His eyes are now officially blue, and it looks like he’ll be a lefty just like his dad! Over the past year, he’s developed a few freckles on his nose, just like his big brother. He may not be very verbal (he meets all the milestones, just isn’t particularly keen on chatting!), but he loves to say specific words like ball, uh-oh, boon (for balloon), and Mama (constantly!). He enjoys holding hands (unless there are toys around), dancing, and is definitely a Daddy’s boy. His absolute favorite thing is riding the Power Wheels tractor and playing with stickers. He loves to color and line up his Matchbox cars. He embodies all things boyish, complete with a fiery little temper, and gives the most passionate open-mouth kisses. He truly lives up to his nickname, Munchkin, and has a knack for getting into mischief—the messier, the better!
Happy Birthday, my dear Weston! I cherish every moment of celebrating you—whether on the beach, on the boat, or every single day! You bring us so much joy, and your daddy and I love you fiercely!
