Sweden Eliminates All COVID-19 Travel Restrictions - Dinogo

Sweden has recently declared that it will join a number of European countries, such as Italy, Iceland, and the United Kingdom, in reopening its borders to all international travelers with minimal pandemic-related restrictions.
Beginning April 1, visitors to this country known for its beautiful archipelagos, modern architecture, and abundant cafés will no longer need to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for entry. According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, the Swedish government no longer views entry restrictions as a “proportionate measure for infection control.”
Since early February, Sweden has permitted travelers from EU and other Nordic nations to enter without any restrictions, while visitors from what are classified as “third countries” (those outside the EU) were previously required to be vaccinated or present a negative COVID test to enter.
“This will greatly facilitate travel for those who have been unable to visit Sweden in recent years due to the pandemic,” stated Morgan Johansson, the minister for justice and home affairs, in the announcement.
This announcement comes nearly two months after Sweden lifted face mask requirements on public transport and in restaurants, allowing all public venues, including bars, museums, and amusement parks, to operate at full capacity. Masks are not mandatory on domestic flights; however, they remain required on all international flights as of March 31.
For those returning to the United States from Sweden, all international travelers entering the U.S., regardless of vaccination status, must be tested for COVID no more than one calendar day prior to their flight to the U.S. This requirement is still in effect as of the latest update, and all foreign travelers must be vaccinated.
