The list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars for 2022 has been revealed.

After years of pandemic restrictions, the annual Asia’s 50 Best Bars event returned to a live audience on Thursday evening, marking its first in-person ceremony since 2019.

Celebrating the region’s finest bars and the talent behind them, the 2022 awards took place at the luxurious Mandarin Oriental hotel in Bangkok.

As always, the battle for the top spot was fierce between Hong Kong and Singapore, with Coa, last year’s winner, successfully defending its title for the second consecutive year.

Set in a moody, candle-lit space with industrial decor, Coa in Hong Kong takes its name from a traditional machete-like tool used to harvest agave—the plant that forms the base for mezcal and tequila. These spirits feature prominently in the bar’s signature cocktails, including the La Paloma de Oaxaca, which blends grapefruit-infused mezcal and tequila.

Jigger & Pony, located in Singapore's Amara Hotel, secured the number two position. Named after the bartender's double-coned measuring tool, the bar offers a menu of 24 inventive cocktails, including the Yuzu Whiskey Sour, which combines Maker’s Mark Bourbon, yuzu marmalade, St Germain, lemon, and egg white.

Argo, based at the Four Seasons Hong Kong, claimed third place in this year’s rankings. Known for its innovative cocktail menu, Argo offers drinks crafted from cutting-edge spirit technologies, such as AI-generated gin and molecularly aged whisky.

Tesouro, the only bar in the top 10 not located in a major city, ranked fourth on this year’s list. Situated in the coastal village of Colva, Goa, Tesouro opened during the pandemic and features a blend of Goan-Portuguese design alongside cocktails made with fine rum, craft gins, agave spirits, and the local Goan spirit feni.

Tokyo's Bar Benfiddich claimed the fifth spot, Taipei's Indulge Experimental Bistro secured sixth, and Seoul's Charles H came in seventh this year. While Singapore didn’t claim the top spot, it leads the list with the highest number of bars in the top 50, with 11 venues featured this year, including MO Bar at number 8 and former top bar Manhattan, which placed ninth.

Bangkok’s recently opened BKK Social Club, located in the Four Seasons by the Chao Phraya River, completed the top 10 list.

Part of the World’s 50 Best Bars network owned by William Reed Ltd., the Asia list is determined by the votes of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy, a collective of industry professionals, media figures, and mixology experts from across the region.
