The Ritz-Carlton is set to take over a renowned resort on Oahu's North Shore.

For fans of points and miles, especially those loyal to Marriott Bonvoy, the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii is about to become even more appealing: the iconic Turtle Bay Resort is being transformed into a Ritz-Carlton.
Recognized as "Oahu's North Shore gem" by TPG's own Summer Hull, Turtle Bay Resort is famous for its breathtaking views, beautiful landscaping and accommodations, spectacular pool, and impressive waves that attract surfers and onlookers alike. These features have earned it a place on our list of the finest resorts and hotels in Hawaii.
Recently, Host Hotels & Resorts announced plans to acquire the 450-room resort along with 49 acres of undeveloped land, potentially for future projects, for approximately $680 million, as stated by the company.
Upon completion of the transaction (anticipated in early July of this year), Turtle Bay will be rebranded as a Ritz-Carlton, with Marriott taking over its management.

We’ll have to wait and see what modifications will be made to convert the property into a Ritz-Carlton, but we suspect minimal changes are needed since Turtle Bay underwent renovations while closed during the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic (from March 2020 to June 2021).
The Ritz-Carlton branding is likely to significantly increase the already high prices of the property.
What’s particularly intriguing is how Host Hotels & Resorts plans to utilize the nearly 50 acres of land it has also acquired — could we see another luxury resort emerge soon? Host Hotels & Resorts has experience in Hawaii, luxury accommodations, and the Ritz-Carlton brand, with properties like the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui, The Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida, the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, and even the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort in its portfolio.
Stay tuned for more updates on Turtle Bay's thrilling transformation into a Ritz-Carlton.
