Top Hotels in Philadelphia
Understanding Philadelphia means recognizing its contrasts. The city is renowned for its passionate sports culture and vibrant, award-winning food scene. Sleek modern buildings stand alongside historic cobblestone streets and 18th-century brick row houses, while residents strive to enhance urban greenery through various tree-planting projects. This lively energy also permeates Philly’s hotel landscape, where luxury establishments like the Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton vie with charming, long-established hotels and trendy boutique options. True to Philadelphia’s spirit, there’s something here for every traveler.
As a former resident and an experienced travel writer, I’ve seen how these hotels skillfully utilize their locations, thoughtful amenities, and a strong sense of place to shape the guest experience. By blending my local insights with editor-favorite properties and T+L’s It List winners, I’ve compiled a list of the finest hotels in Philadelphia. Keep reading to discover what keeps the city’s premier hotels at the forefront of the hospitality scene.
Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center
Four Seasons ResortsThe indoor infinity pool, featuring breathtaking panoramic views, offers a serene escape in the midst of the bustling city.
Guests with a fear of heights might find the rooms and suites on the 48th to 56th floors a bit daunting.
The Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center is a newer addition to the city’s landscape—especially notable given the city's history—having quickly earned a spot on T+L’s It List in 2020 after its August 2019 debut. Nestled within Philly’s tallest building, the Comcast Technology Center, it stands as a symbol of luxury. My first visit left me amazed not only by its impressive height, best appreciated in the high-speed glass elevators that whisk you to the 60th-floor rooftop lobby, but also by its serene ambiance amidst the city's vibrancy. Nowhere offers a greater sense of tranquility than the indoor infinity pool and spa. With expansive floor-to-ceiling windows providing stunning views throughout the hotel, the pool is the perfect spot to find stillness and fully appreciate the breathtaking cityscape.
The breathtaking city views are also showcased at both Jean-Georges Philadelphia and SkyHigh, the hotel’s stylish dining spots featuring exceptional menus and enchanting atmospheres, especially at sunset. After a day of city adventures, dress up a bit and enjoy a cocktail while watching the colors shift as day turns to night.

The Rittenhouse
The RittenhouseThe hotel boasts one of the finest spas in the city; if you're looking for a full rejuvenation, consider booking the CBD Rest + Restore Body Experience.
It's advisable to leave your car behind to avoid valet charges and the hustle of neighborhood traffic.
My first experience at The Rittenhouse began at Library Bar, a cozy spot nestled among shelves filled with rare books, many chronicling Philadelphia’s rich history. From there, I enjoyed a table at Lacroix, one of the hotel's esteemed dining venues, indulging in an exquisite wine-pairing adventure. Throughout both experiences, the commitment to quality and the pride reminiscent of lifelong Philadelphians was palpable.
Beyond the food and beverage offerings within the 118-room hotel, there are numerous compelling reasons to choose a stay here. Its prime location on the charming Rittenhouse Square enables guests to easily reach many of the city’s key attractions within a short stroll—or simply relax on a park bench under the trees. The LoganThe Assembly Rooftop Lounge is a lively spot for post-work cocktails, especially during the summer months.
Despite being one of the premier hotels in the area, don’t anticipate five-star luxury in terms of amenities or guest accommodations.
At The Logan Philadelphia, Curio Collection by Hilton, location is key. With 391 rooms and suites, you’ll be just a brief stroll or Uber ride away from some of the city’s finest cultural attractions, including the Rodin Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Inside the hotel, you’ll also discover original local artworks adorning its rooms and public areas, enhancing your artistic experience.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Underground Spa. As the name implies, you’ll descend below ground level to enter this serene retreat and enjoy its array of services. I indulged in the Alpine Arnica Deep Tissue Massage, which began with a refreshing swim in the indoor heated pool. If you're seeking excitement rather than relaxation, The Assembly Rooftop Lounge offers a vibrant atmosphere and stunning views of Philadelphia. Just remember to book your table ahead of time, as it can get quite busy.

When you're not enjoying your uniquely styled room—complete with a coffee station, Bluetooth speakers, smart TV, and premium linens—you might be drawn to The Lounge. The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia occupies a prominent Broad Street location in Center City, housed in a striking neoclassical bank building dating back to the 1900s. While Philadelphia’s boutique hotels cater more to romantic getaways and intimate events, this property is tailored for grand occasions and larger gatherings, such as weddings, corporate conferences, and family reunions. Fitler Club serves as Philadelphia's equivalent to Soho House — however, you don’t need to be a member to reserve one of its 14 hotel rooms. Perfect for extended stays or business trips, the modern and inviting accommodations are just one aspect of the property’s allure. The nightly rate includes access to a wealth of amenities at the lifestyle club: on-site dining options, a bright coworking area, fitness classes, a swimming pool, cold plunge, hot tub, and spa facilities.
While I haven’t personally stayed in the rooms, my time as a club member included daily visits to the riverside venue, where I would work on my laptop or use the Peloton Tread. Despite the club’s popularity, it never feels overwhelmingly crowded, noisy, or too exclusive. It has a cozy atmosphere, allowing hotel guests to blend in comfortably with regular members.

Important Information Before Your Visit
The city is very pedestrian-friendly
Although there is a city bus, subway, and train service, walking or using Uber is generally more efficient, particularly in the Center City area. If you plan to log some steps, be sure to pack accordingly. Certain parts of the city, especially Old City, feature historic cobblestone streets that are best navigated with supportive footwear.
Sports culture is a major part of life here
The residents of Philadelphia are renowned for their passion for sports. To truly feel this electrifying enthusiasm, plan your visit around a Flyers, Eagles, 76ers, or Phillies game. Just a heads-up: major sporting events can lead to heavy traffic. Allow extra time for travel, or consider using SEPTA's Broad Street Line to reach the Wells Fargo Center, Lincoln Financial Field, or Citizens Bank Park.
Check the schedule for other significant events in Philadelphia
Professional sports games aren't the only occurrences that can lead to traffic delays, street closures, and increased hotel rates. Annual events like the Mummers Parade, Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run, and the Philadelphia Pride March & Festival attract large crowds of both visitors and locals.
Philly boasts a thrilling culinary scene
The culinary scene in Philadelphia is one of the most dynamic on the East Coast — and it extends well beyond cheesesteaks, hoagies, soft pretzels, and water ice. In the city's diverse neighborhoods, you'll discover Ethiopian, Mexican, Japanese, Italian, Thai, Cambodian, and American cuisines, among others. James Beard award-winning restaurants are just as favored as local eateries. Come ready to eat, make reservations, and prepare for a series of unforgettable dining experiences.
