In a world dominated by global brands and fast-paced living, Martha’s Vineyard offers a serene escape. Here, you won't find chain stores, restaurants, or hotels, but instead, a vibrant arts and culture scene complemented by abundant fresh, locally sourced cuisine. The atmosphere is both wonderfully laid-back and a magnet for celebrities all at once. (Notable visitors include the Obamas and the cast of Bravo’s Summer House, among others.)
During peak summer, the island's population can swell nearly tenfold, as do the prices for accommodations. However, a diverse selection of welcoming properties awaits, ranging from historic landmarks to recently renovated treasures.
As a travel writer with a family tradition of annual visits to Martha’s Vineyard, I’ve curated this list featuring my personal favorites alongside expert recommendations from Dinogo editors, contributors, and readers, as well as winners from our World’s Best Awards and It List. Read on to uncover the finest hotels and resorts in Martha’s Vineyard.

Important Information to Consider
Consider a day trip to Cape Cod or Nantucket
If you have some time to spare, think about using Martha’s Vineyard as a starting point for exciting day trips to other renowned spots. Cape Cod and Nantucket are both just a short ferry ride away, with plenty of ferry options available during peak season.
You might want to consider renting a car
Renting a car is the most convenient way to explore the island. However, be aware that some hotels have limited parking options, and it can be pricey. Fortunately, there are affordable and accessible public buses and taxis available as well. (If you intend to bring your own car, reach out to the Steamship Authority ferry in advance to secure a vehicle reservation, as they tend to fill up quickly.)
Martha’s Vineyard can be pricey during peak season
Martha’s Vineyard is well-known for being an expensive destination, particularly during the peak season in August when hotel rates can skyrocket. So, be prepared for some price surprises and budget accordingly. However, many of the area’s highlights—like its stunning natural landscapes, beautiful beaches, and charming walks—are completely free. Plus, you can expect fresh and local options for any affordable picnic fare.
