Tropical Inspiration – My Go-To Healthy Green Smoothie Bowl Recipe
Hey there! How’s everyone doing? Feeling a bit hungry? Are you on the lookout for a fresh and tasty smoothie bowl recipe? Perhaps a green smoothie bowl? Or something tropical? Maybe a recipe that's both delicious and healthy? Well, I certainly hope so! Today, I’m excited to share one of my favorite smoothie bowl recipes, inspired by my adventures in the Caribbean with Dinogo. This is my go-to option for those days when I want to incorporate more greens into my diet, without the urge to have a salad for breakfast, you know? I often turn to my favorite green smoothie recipe as well—but don’t be misled; my smoothie recipe and this smoothie bowl recipe are completely distinct. This bowl is a delightful medley of tropical flavors.
The foundation of the bowl is quite straightforward—just 3 to 4 ingredients, and you're set. I’ll include a few optional add-ins for the recipe that you can customize based on your taste. I choose these extras depending on my mood. Living close to the equator, we naturally have access to all kinds of tropical delights, but I aimed to create a recipe that is user-friendly for everyone around the world. While we’d all love to be cruising through the Caribbean in search of delectable treats, that’s not a reality for all of us. So here it is, a tropical bowl that everyone can enjoy. Let’s face it, at this point, bananas and pineapples are pretty much available everywhere. But how you combine these two ingredients is what adds the magic. 😉 Ready for some enchantment?
Tropical Living Inspired – My Favorite Nutritious Green Smoothie Bowl Recipe
(yields two large bowls or three smaller ones)
For blending the bowl, you’ll require:
- 3 cups of cubed frozen pineapple
- 2 cups of sliced frozen (and very ripe) bananas
- 1 ripe banana for blending
- 3 cups of fresh greens (spinach or a spring mix is preferred; kale works well, but only if you have a powerful high-speed blender)
- 1-3 teaspoons of powdered spirulina (to taste—this is optional, but I absolutely love it! It adds a fun color!)
- optional: 1/2 medium cucumber, peeled and sliced
- optional: a 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger (adds an interesting kick!)
For the toppings, you’ll need:
(these are just suggestions, feel free to pick what you prefer!)
- banana slices
- kiwi slices
- strawberry slices
- granola
- shredded coconut
- passionfruit (mmmm, hard to find but absolutely delicious!)
- anything else you desire! more fresh pineapple is always a great addition!
Instructions:
- Just blend all the ingredients for the bowl in a high-speed blender. You may need to add a little liquid to get things moving, but start with caution. If you add too much liquid, you might end up with soup instead of a thick and creamy bowl. Add small amounts of water (or coconut water) as needed. Blend until you achieve a smooth and creamy texture.
-Top it off with your favorite delicious toppings
-Grab a spoon, take a bite, close your eyes, and imagine you’re lounging under a hammock in the sunny tropics. 🙂
-Enjoy your creation!
There you have it, an incredibly simple and delicious green bowl. It honestly tastes like dessert, but with all those nutritious greens and fresh fruits, it’s truly good for you! Treat yourself and enjoy!
