Which Six Senses hotels and resorts allow you to earn and redeem IHG points?

Six Senses hotels and resorts embody a distinctive blend of welcoming, wellness-oriented luxury. The two locations I've experienced — Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives and Six Senses Yao Noi in Thailand — rank among my top five stays ever, thanks to their charming, down-to-earth luxury set in stunning, secluded environments. As Six Senses expands into urban areas, even city dwellers may find something to love about the brand.
Nights at the finest Six Senses resorts typically start at over $600 per night. However, you can earn IHG points at select Six Senses locations. Even if a cash stay isn’t feasible, you can redeem IHG points for stays at specific Six Senses hotels and resorts. Remember, InterContinental Hotels Group acquired Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in 2019, adding the first Six Senses properties to its IHG One Rewards program in March 2021.
Sadly, IHG hasn’t yet incorporated all Six Senses properties into IHG One Rewards. Here’s what you need to know about which Six Senses hotels and resorts participate in IHG One Rewards.

How to identify Six Senses hotels and resorts that participate
IHG doesn’t provide a comprehensive list of Six Senses properties involved in IHG One Rewards. However, you can view all hotels and resorts on the Six Senses website.
To check if a specific Six Senses property is part of IHG One Rewards, you’ll need to input your travel dates and look for rates on that property's dedicated Six Senses page. Only then will you find out if the property is included.
For instance, when I look for a stay at Six Senses Krabey Island, I notice a message stating "IHG® One Rewards is not applicable at this Six Senses hotel at this time" in a box on the right side of my screen.

However, when I look for a stay at Six Senses Laamu, I find the option to log in and redeem IHG points for certain room types.

6 Six Senses properties that are not part of IHG One Rewards
Regrettably, the following Six Senses hotels and resorts do not participate in IHG One Rewards:
- Six Senses Douro Valley (Portugal)
- Six Senses Kocatas Mansions, Istanbul (Turkey)
- Six Senses Krabey Island (Cambodia)
- Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain (China)
- Six Senses Samui (Thailand)
- Six Senses Zighy Bay (Oman)
You cannot use IHG points to book these properties, and you won't earn IHG points or elite night credits during your stays, nor will you receive any benefits as an IHG member at these Six Senses hotels and resorts.
Key information about redeeming IHG points for Six Senses stays
As mentioned earlier, you can redeem IHG points for stays at eligible Six Senses properties. Similar to other IHG One Rewards locations, award nights at these participating Six Senses hotels and resorts follow dynamic pricing.
Some Six Senses properties impose minimum stay requirements on certain dates. However, members with select IHG One Rewards credit cards can enjoy a free fourth reward night at Six Senses properties when redeeming IHG points for four-night stays or longer. This benefit can enhance the value of your IHG points.

Keep in mind that many Six Senses hotels and resorts provide special packages that can offer significantly more value than redeeming IHG points. For instance, for a four-night stay at Six Senses Laamu next month, I could use 570,000 points after benefiting from the free fourth night perk associated with my IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card. Alternatively, I could book an extended-stay half-board rate for $3,528, which includes daily breakfast and dinner for two, along with a 25% discount on round-trip seaplane flights. Redeeming points would yield a value of 0.62 cents per point, while the extended-stay half-board option adds extra value through daily dinners and discounted seaplane transfers.
Therefore, always check paid rates before concluding that redeeming IHG points is the best option.
IHG benefits at Six Senses properties
Six Senses properties tend to be relatively small and often employ nontraditional service methods. As a result, some IHG One Rewards benefits may vary or be unavailable at participating Six Senses locations. For example, member rates are not offered at these hotels and resorts.
Members of InterContinental Ambassador, InterContinental Royal Ambassador, and Kimpton Inner Circle receive additional benefits when staying at participating Six Senses properties. Specifically, these members can anticipate:
- Complimentary daily breakfast for two in the main restaurant (excludes Six Senses Residences)
- A unique signature perk: a complimentary 50-minute Six Senses Spa massage for two or a local experience once per stay (varies by resort; subject to availability and confirmed upon arrival; not valid with corporate or negotiated rates)
- Complimentary room upgrade to a higher category (subject to availability; excludes residences and suites or villas with two bedrooms or more)
- Extended checkout time until 4 p.m. (subject to availability for Ambassador members and all members at Six Senses Residences)
- Early check-in at 10 a.m. (subject to availability for Ambassador members and all members at Six Senses Residences)
- Free internet access
- Welcome wellness platter amenity (subject to availability at Six Senses Residences)

These benefits are exclusively available to eligible members when booking directly or through an authorized travel agent.
In summary
I appreciate that IHG has incorporated most Six Senses properties into its program. However, despite the program expanding to include more hotels over the past three years, there are still six Six Senses properties that do not participate in IHG One Rewards. It remains uncertain if these Six Senses locations will ever join the program.
Redeeming IHG points for a fourth reward night free can be a great incentive for your stay. However, if your travel budget allows for a Six Senses visit, it's wise to check the paid rates to see if any packages offer better value than using points.
