You can get hotels with more refinements but this is one of the best value for money hotels we have visited. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff and limited but very good quality food. A real mix of elderly and young sporty athletes on winter training. A good place and worth your money. Great hotel.

Excellent hotel, great service, lovely staff, great spa, reasonable prices. Food good, limited choice but excellent quality. Central location fir beach and shops. Would recommend this hotel. The resort has a lovely long boardwalk with plenty of seated areas.

I normally go on holiday to North Portugal but decided to give the Algarve a try. I love Monte Gordo and I loved Alcazar Hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and I felt comfortable immediately. My room was very spacious and clean. The purpose of my trip was just to relax and this is exactly what I did. There were plenty of sunbeds but I spent most of my day on the swinging day beds. I also went into the gym which was extremely clean and had plenty of equipment. The beach on Monte Gordo is lovely and clean. There are plenty of restaurants in the area which cater for all tastes. I would definitely like to return again. Thank you.

Sorry for the delay in writing this review.... was half expecting Jet2 to ask for a review, so was waiting for the prompt. My sister and I stayed at the hotel from 29th Apr-6th May. The staff was lovely; friendly and helpful. Front desk (especially Belinda, who gave us a lot of local info), as well as the professional & fun restaurant team (Even when they had their hands full with a load of teenagers on a sporting/ running training camp/holiday, (who were very well behaved), they still kept it all running smoothly). All areas of the hotel are kept immaculately. Outside spaces are nicely laid out, with places to sit and eat/chat in the shade, sunbathe, peace to read a book or hang out by the pool without feeling crowded. Buffet at breakfast & dinner had ample choices, even for me (I have unusual allergies, but I never needed to ask for anything to be modified or made specially, there were always plenty of options) Food is not presented in the usual 4* fancy way, more rustic, local style cuisine, still delicious! (Keep in mind that Portuguese folk, like a lot of the Med, don't serve food piping hot, but there is a micro if you want it hotter). All tables in the dining room are assigned, which does save the hassle of having to find a spot at every meal. The room was nice, ours on the 4th fl looked out toward the front of the hotel and had a view of the sea and the nature reserve. Quiet too, no corridor or neighbour noise. The hotel itself is also in a fairly quiet location, but close (5 min walk) to the beach, shops, and handy for train and bus links. We walked to Vila Real de San Antonio a couple of times (approx 45 mins taking your time in the heat, but you can take a bus there and/or back too) and also took the train to Tavira (25 mins). A walk along the Monte Gordo boardwalk to see the fishing boats was pleasant, and there are nice local shops too to spend time in. We had an early pick-up for our return airport transfer and were going to be gone before breakfast started. But the gentleman in reception the night before (sorry we didn't catch your name) (when we went to settle our bill) offered a 'packed' breakfast. We were expecting maybe a croissant and some orange juice, but we got a sandwich, orange juice, a bottle of water, an apple, and a huge (!) slice of cake, all in a handy carry box. Very much appreciated. Thank you to everyone at Alcazar for a lovely, relaxing stay. We hope to visit again sometime.

The hotel is extremely clean. Always a good choice of food both at breakfast and dinner. The staff are very friendly, Ricardo manages the restaurant very well. Cristina, Silvina, Ana, and David on reception are always so very helpful and friendly. The hotel is centrally situated, a 5 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is well situated regarding trips out to Ayamonte in Spain, Vila Real, and Tavira. Monte Gordo has a very large beach stretching for miles backed by beautiful dines and a boardwalk. Rooms are cleaned daily along with fresh towels. The maids do a great job in keeping the hotel so clean. All the staff at all levels are great. The manager, Nelson, does a great job. Found this hotel on a British Airways deal. What a find, yes you need a car or transfers from the airport but the hotel is superb, the staff like wise. Rooms very large with plenty of room, comfy beds, super shower and lovely big balconies ( if you book a room with one). Really nice hot and cold breakfast selection. Close to walks along the suburb board walks. A real gem. Views from our room 602 are stunning over the forest and out to sea. Love it.

I am a repeat guest. I stayed for 2 weeks on a half board basis. I was allocated a lovely comfortable room on a high floor with a beach view. The hotel is very clean and the staff are all welcoming and friendly. There is a good choice of hot and cold food. My room had comfy beds, a good size balcony and modern bathroom. I am returning in July again. Special mentions to Cristina on reception always smiling and helpful, Miguel in the restaurant along with Valter, David and Ricardo. Leandro and Miguel in the bar. Housekeeping do an excellent job. Hotel just across the road from the 13 kilometer beach. Monte Gordo is a lovely resort.

Very good experience. Amazing food with plenty of choices at breakfast and dinner. The pool area and all the surrounding areas are very beautiful and clean. We had a problem in our room that was looked at and fixed very fast and efficiently. Very friendly and helpful staff

Second stay here, first time in 2018. There have been a few changes since the last stay but nothing major. Positives - • The overall cleanliness of the hotel is very good, rooms are cleaned daily unless you request otherwise. With that being said, some bits of the hotel are a bit dated for example the furniture, but still very clean throughout including the pool area, outside terrace, indoor seating areas, ground floor toilets (which I preferred to my hotel bathroom) • My room was very comfortable with effective air con. 16°c was perfect to come back to after leaving your room for a couple of hours. I had enough space for belongings and clothings. I had a low floor, room 101 which had a massive balcony, it seemed a shame to have so much space with nothing on it, but I did have 2 sun loungers! • The area is nice, very flat less than 10 min walk to the beach which is also kept beautifully clean. There are enough places to eat if you browse Tripadvisor first for recommendations Negatives - • The food was hit-or-miss. Luckily only booked bed & breakfast which was buffet style, I am a fussy eater so although there was plenty of choice I did struggle to eat a full meal given the choices. Snack bar by the pool was a lot better though! • Sun bed reservation should not be allowed, as with any hotel, the massive amount of leaving towels on sun beds was a real shame at this hotel. Some towels were left on beds all day and never claimed, although there are plenty of beds and places to relax yes, there should be a stricter approach to this from staff, especially during August • Minor issue, but the repetitive dance music by the pool was a little bit irritating towards the end of my stay, I can’t speak for others but I found it hard to relax at times because of this, I personally would have preferred no music as the same playlist played all day long (8am-late)

The hotel was very pleasant and everything was always clean. The maid we had was excellent, very friendly and caring. We were bed and breakfast and found the breakfast good with a varied choice of food. Would have preferred a walk in shower as it was not particularly easy to get out of the bath after using the overhead shower. Water was always hot and the bathroom was a good size.

Decent hotel that was kept very clean . We had all inclusive - food was Portuguese and food throughout . Staff very friendly and attentive . A bit dated in parts . For example , the beds and pillows weren’t very comfortable . They wouldn’t replace my pool towel when I asked (they only do after 1 week) . The wifi doesn’t reach around the whole pool .

We stayed at the Alcazar for 2 weeks in May, just returning home today, the hotel is very clean with a lovely varied breakfast, tables were very close together in the restaurant which was a shame, the timing of the cleaning of the room, was a bit of a let down some days had not been by 4 pm when we wanted to chill out in the room for a while before the evening, the view from our balcony was stunning, unfortunately it was always breezy so not as warm as we would have liked but that isn’t the hotels fault. The one issue on maintenance ce we had was sorted out immediately

En mi opinión lo mejor fue el desayuno. Nos cambiaron la habitación diciendo que era superior pero la que nosotros teníamos reservada estaba reformada y con ducha, y la que nos dieron no. Y aunque bajamos y explicamos que la reservamos así por la dificultad de no poder usar bañera pero decían que no tenían otra. Por lo tanto un gran punto negativo. Y en cuanto a las instalaciones, decir que tienen piscina exterior, interior...(esta forma parte del spa que hay que abonar y no lo dice en ningún sitio, sino cuando llegas allí. Al ponerlo dentro de las instalaciones como la exterior y no tiene coste, intentaron convencernos que en la web del hotel lo decía pero todos comprobamos que no era cierto). Deberían poner que lleva coste (como otras partes del hotel o actividades) y no captar clientes omitiendo cosas esas.

Hotel okay food good but small choice entertainment so so decent rooms cleaned every day the gym is a rip off seven and a half euros every time you wanted to go and it's nothing special never had to pay for the use of a gym in a hotel before like I said before it's okay but wouldn't go back

The hotel is lovely. Staff are friendly and helpful. I would not recommend for children as it’s definitely more for adults (even solo travellers love it here). I’m a fussy eater but have found something each day. We went half board, yes you do have to pay for your drinks at dinner (either put on a tab to your room or pay straight away), but not at breakfast. Some of the food was cold and they do have a microwave but this only happened twice for us. Hotel is clean and the pool is cold (Is November) but it’s up to you if you want to use it. The spa is extra (even the in door pool) A five minutes walk to the lovely beach which is miles long. Lots of bars and restaurants. It has been very quiet here but can imagine it being busy in the summer months. I would have given 5 but due to the food and spa I have given it 4.
