I understand some of the negative reviews but in its defence. It was the cheapest place on the island, it’s location is irrelevant really because everything is close. The room was clean while I was there, the music was loud but stopped at 12 and it’s clearly advertised as a party/bar hostel so you get what you pay for.

This place is pretty average. It's just generally old and dirty. Doesn't warrant what they are asking for the price of the room. When you book here, you can go over to the other hostel and use their pool but I wouldn't bother. Doesn't seem to have been cleaned in a while. Wasn't game enough to go in as it looked disgusting. 1 very average night sleep was more than enough here.

Keep passports during your stayRoom next to a nightclub (see Photo :))We cannot manage the air conditioning ourselves, the staff activates it at specific times, but sometimes the air conditioning does not work all nightNo hot water in the showerThe beds above are poorly designed: impossible to place a bottle of water or your phoneThe gym costs money (150B) for a room with very old equipmentThe staff is nice but harassed twice a day to participate in events. We all slept very badly, between the heat, the music, the mold in the shower and these 4 nights were really not relaxing.

Unacceptable to have to leave your passport at receptionThis is illegal and no alternative is offered. The staff forces you to leave it for supposedly immigration reasons.(Which no other hotel in Thailand or Asia or the world has asked me)And too bad if you need it for personal reasons. Or to rent equipment (climbing labas) for example, sometimes you have to leave your passport. If the hotel loses the passport, you will not be able to return homeEspecially since they are stored in a simple plastic box. Unprotected, and not monitored at night. And that the reception is not closed since it is in the open air in the street. Finally, the place is far too noisy if you want to sleep in peace, it's common for there to be noise from a nightclub 10 meters from the room.

We were lucky enough to have the room furthest away from the bar so we didn't hear any of the music. (Ask for the mixed 6 room) Nevertheless, the doors weren't really soundproof and you can hear everyone who walks past outside. The rooms themselves are clean and the bathroom is good, but it smells unpleasant. Another disadvantage is that your passport will be retained for the entire duration of your stay, no photo or copy will be allowed, that's actually not possible. The hostel is used by people who like to party, if you don't want that, don't book it!

Not a place to stay if you are a climber needing to rent gear. They require you give your passport as deposit but gear rentals also require this. I reached out to figure a way around this and they would not budge on the policy. If you are a climber trying to find budget accomodations, go to Tonsai.
