Stayed at this simple but yet very traditional Laomofang Inn. Very strategically located in Old Town, Lijiang and some 3 minutes walk to the Sifangjie Square, where interesting events, happened there. This very old Inn, built in the ancient past has much to offer in terms of character and charm. It's like being transported to some hundred years ago...Very ancient room, furniture, decor and a great ambiance with the small pond and the courtyard to reinforce such quaint feel.

The accommodations are really nice at this hidden gem of a hotel. We paid the equivalent of 50 USD for a room with a sitting room and separate bedroom. The bathroom was incredible, with a tub for two and nice appointments.No motorized vehicles can get into Old Town, so you have to plan to hire a rickshaw to carry your bags from the street. (It cost only 20 RMB.) The final 50 meters (or so) are on foot hauling your bags by hand because the rickshaw can't get over the narrow pedestrian bridge and up the stairway to the hotel. It's totally worth the extra effort to enjoy the accommodations. If you plan for it, it's not a problem.
