Great price-performance ratio, beautiful rooms with well thought-out lighting!!!! Very clean! Everything fine

highly recommend phukhaolak resort! we travel full-time on a tight budget, so for my birthday weekend, we wanted a special treat. this resort totally delivered!the good:* secluded paradise: the resort is massive with lots of space between bungalows, making it super private and quiet. the gardens are stunning with giant coconut trees, and the pool is lovely.* modern & clean rooms: the rooms are stylish and minimalist, very clean, with great aircon, comfy beds, and nice bathrooms.* helpful staff: the staff were friendly and helpful, although a little overzealous with room cleaning (even with the do not disturb sign out).* convenient location: despite being on a busy main road (more like a highway!), you can't hear the noise once inside. restaurants, shops, and bars are all nearby.* bonus: super cheap and fast laundry service!areas for improvement:* poolside maintenance: the pool loungers could be cleaned more regularly.* poolside service: food and drink service by the pool would be a great addition.* walkway to rooms: the paths to the rooms could be improved as they go right through the garden.* drying clothes: a proper drying rack outside the room would be handy.overall:an amazing stay! despite a couple of minor things, phukhaolak resort exceeded expectations. perfect for budget travelers looking for a little luxury!

Really nice hotel and layout of the site. We had a private bungalow type room. It was spacious with a nice balcony and the view from the front across the field and the coconut trees is amazing, you aren't looking towards anyone else's room. I hope they don't build more on the site as it would ruin it. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel restaurant was also very good for Thai food. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location is good in the southern half of Khao Lak and easy to walk to restaurants and the beach. To get to Bang Niang in the northern half you will need a scooter or taxi.There are a couple of points to improve on:The AC does not vent into the bathroom even with the door always open and fan on and its very hot in there. If you're in there for more than a couple of minutes then you feel like you need to have a quick shower. Difficult to fix by design now but AC units do exist that can also vent into two rooms from the same wall.The pool area is nice but abit too small for the size of the hotel / number of people. Even working with the small pool they have got they could make space for some more sunbeds on the other side as there are only about 10 pairs which get full up. Although I would recommend going to the beach instead it could be an issue if you prefer to spend time at the pool. Also an idea for the hotel bar staff that are not busy during the day - if they came outside and offered drinks to people round the pool instead of having to go in they would sell alot more.Overall I really liked the hotel and think it was good value for the price. I would stay here again.
