Highly recommend this place. Quiet small alley, many food stalls and cafés closeby and the express boat. It’s a quiet area and offers great views of the river from the rooftop. Rooms are clean and neat. Prices are very reasonable and the lady at the reception was very friendly and accommodating. Thank you so much! I will be back!

This old-school gem has been my favourite place in Bangkok for the last 18 years for many reasons. It has this excellent location near the river and it's great to watch sunsets from the terrace or rooftop overlooking the river and the city. It's walking distance to centre yet on a very peaceful alleyway which is genuine Thailand and not the same touristy street you have next to most hotels this close. Very clean and simple yet has the most basic traveller amenities that the modern hotels lack. You have plenty of common space (a big lobby with work and dining space, a cute garden, terrace and rooftop) where you can actually eat whatever food you can fix yourself (free hot water available), work on your laptop, do your yoga, sun dry your laundry, enjoy a drink with friends etc. The staff is really nice and helpful. Although it's on an alleyway, taxi can come within 30 meters. Strongly recommended.

The owner, Mai, is the sweetest woman I’ve ever met. On a backpacking trip to Bangkok this summer, she was incredibly accommodating and kind. Single room with private bath and fan was about 200 baht- the best value for a hostel Ive ever seen. It’s in a local part of town, and away from the busy streets so it feels safe. On the roof, there’s a beautiful view of the river and skyline. If you’re getting in early or late, she’ll be there to greet you. She’ll organize transportation for you around the city or to the airport. Mook kitchen is down the street and has fantastic and cheap meals - amazinf thai tea, smoothies, and authentic thai food. I cannot recommend a better place to stay.

I’ve stayed on and off here for years. Unfortunately at my last trip I had some money taken from my room. I asked numerous times to see the video. She made excuse after excuse. I have no proof it was the lady working at the desk though I suspect here strongly.

Awesome place with a traditional Thai guesthouse vibe. I showed up without a booking and got a small single room with fan and shared bathroom for 200 Baht. (or was it 250?)You can hang out in the little garden with a Koi pond. The view from the public rooftop terrace and the public balcony one floor below towards the river, towards Phra Sumen fort and even towards downtown are gold. The whole area between Sam Sen Soi 1 and Soi 3 feels like a world away from the bustle of Khao San Road. But it's only 15 minutes walking and less than 10 minutes to Phra Athit riverboat pier.I came back here after spending a week elsewhere and it felt like coming home.
